Topic: VATA Tour

Martin - can you confirm that the band are supporting Robin Trower at his Aberdeen show? Was mentioned in the local press tonight. Although I cannot go I will spread the word.

Also, are they supporting Uriah Heep on selected dates in December?

Thanks,
Kenny

Re: VATA Tour

Re: VATA Tour

I'm really looking foward to seeing VATA at the Boom Boom Club in Sutton on 25th September.

I listened to the new album, The Radium, a lot on holiday. I liked it on first hearing but it seems to get better and better each time I hear it.

edit
sorry forgot, and the Mitch Laddie Band too - I hear on Facebook that Mitch has just recorded a new album himself - looking forward to that too.

Just to say that the The Radium is available on iTunes, apparently the interest is so high it's gone world wide release, which is reassuring smile.

Re: VATA Tour

Far beyond just an impressive list of engagements, it is an imposing as it is robust put the soft petal down and put the pedal down adventure.  Putting the pedal down and roaring into and out of towns. 30 dates in (less than 3 months) a rate of 1 out of 3 days they will be gigging!!!
That's impressive and looks like a good quick pace.  I adjure the lads to just play your way through it.  They'll do it good I am certain.  Let 'er rip!!!!!!!  big_smile
cool

Re: VATA Tour

Rocket,
They are ready for this, it's all in the preparation and setup of the band. Part if my remit was no jobs, they must be full-time. Virgil is not a solo artist, VATA are band. The last 3 months they have rehearsed, Jammed, loved and half killed each other 6 days a weak. That is by choice, you will pushed to fund a tighter band at the moment, it's scary.
I take my hat of to them, young, focused and dedicated. Nothing gets in the way, they know what they want and are chomping at the bit smile
Everything us falling into place, great reviews, glowing press. All we need now is folks to turn up and fill venues, the uk is nit the best place for that the moment, seasoned artists are cancelling gigs almost weekly. Fingers crossed and please folks spread the word.
Also getting a lot if interest from the USA at e moment smile

The quality of the shows will depend on the quality of of the attitude.  Attitude can get in the way.  It WILL get in the way.
And one cannot politely ask it to please move aside, nor push it aside, and worst ignore it and turn away in any other direction.  Due things in due time.  Pleasantness and happiness win the days ahead, both to and from audiences. Let 'er rip!!!

Re: VATA Tour

Shameless bumb, tour starts today smile If you are inclined please spread the tour dates on yer facebooks, twitters and god old word of mouth (always the best). This band deserves success to whatever degree. Dedicated, talented, hard working. It's not secret the Uk scene is a little pathetic at the moment, even seasoned artists are struggling.
I can promise you, a night with VATA is unforgettable experience. We and other fine young bands really need to be networked virally.

If they were over here, I'd be touting them door to door. Good fortune VATA!

Take it from me guys, I've seen these lads play many times times over the last couple of years and they never fail to impress. They are one of those bands, you think the last gig was great, till you see the next one when they top it. Earlier this year, I caught them at Hartlepool: they'd been doing 12 hour days in the studio, did a 5 hour drive up and set up, Virgil looked dead on his feet, but once he got on stage he and the guys blasted out a storming 2 hour set including a 20 plus minute jam of Texas Flood with Mitch Laddie which was little short of epic. That's focus, drive and dedication for you. They've got discipline too, from time to time they form Joanne Shaw Taylor's backing band when she tours in the UK, and a tighter, driving backline you'd be pushed to find.

Hi Mike - (good to see you over here BTW)

Couldn't have put it better myself. The tour is going to be a cracker!
We went to see the first date on Thursday and the guys played out of their skins.
A real powerhouse set, with lots from the new album (and more to come) and a couple of new covers - I'll not give the game away completely, but listen out for a little Doyle Bramhall and KWS.

They were all really stoked about the gigs they have with Robin Trower this next week, and I'm sure they will win over lots of new fans on the way.

It was a pleasure to spend some time with the guys before and after the gig, and going back to Rocket's comment about attitude, I can tell you these young guys have it. 100% the right attitude.
Don't miss them if they are playing near you!

Ian

Hi Ian,
Good to get here at last.  Wouldn't be surprised if Virgil is dropping in some more Philip Sayce, he was glued watching him at Holmfirth in July, pre-Maryport. Now Phil and Virgil mixing it up on stage - that would be something to see.
