Re: Henrik Freischlader UK Tour

I heard about Leamington from Eldo - that's a shame. As far as I know the London area Bonabuddies are hitting one or both of the London shows en masse  smile  I'm certainly booked in for the Boom Boom Club next Friday. It would be a real pity if Henrik does have to cancel shows but I'm afraid it's a sign of the times. Speaking personally I'm having to cut right back on live music at the moment and I'm saving a huge amount in petrol as a result (serves me right for living out in the sticks I suppose).

Good job I paid for my tickets in advance to see Joe on 2 consecutive nights at Hammersmith. If I was booking them now I could only have gone to one show - couldn't have missed Joe. And I'm not missing Henrik either.

Re: Henrik Freischlader UK Tour

I really can't except that there is not enough blues rock fans who like Joe, Gary Moore etc in each of the towns Henrik is playing to get 100 people at each show...

Are you saying that Henrik is about to cancel shows Duncan? If so, it better not be Sutton on Friday

Henrik would not make that decision, but twitchy promoters who do not have many presales yet may do so. Sutton, not that I'm aware of, Glasgow is though at risk.

Hope Glasgow is ok as I've paid for train and hotel and there's usually a fair turnout at the Ferry with people buying tickets at the door. Aberdeen must also be at risk as I have seen no promotion whatsoever. When Krissy Matthews played the Blue Lamp earlier this year 89 people attended but that's because it was his 2nd visit and Chris Simmonds was promoting it.

I've got the emails that confirm it. Last Thursday the Edinburgh promoter Gavin who has been coordinating the Scottish dates got an email from Frank Turner who runs the Ferry saying that they had only sold 4 tickets (including mine) and that he was considering cancelled the show unless there was pick up over the weekend. By Monday there has been a further 5 sales which took the total to 9, giving the show a stay of execution, but it's going to need more advance sales than that to go ahead. You can see mention of these on the Scottish Blues Fans facebook page, see link below.

I don't know if it's the Ferry's lack of promotion, or apathy from the music fans in Glasgow, but in the last year a range of blues/rock acts have played the Ferry to very small crowds ie less than 40 people. These include Dani Wilde + Mitch Laddie, Erja Lyytinen + Virgil & The Accelerators, Krissy Matthews + Gerry Jablonski, Chantel McGregor, Matt Andersen, Cherry Lee Mewis and Ben Poole. In fact you'll find that some of those acts will not play the venue again. Booking agents like the Gig Cartel have moved their acts to other Glasgow venues like the O2. If people in Glasgow want to see these acts play the city, they have to get out and support them, otherwise all you'll have left is the local blues cover bands. Those bands above who have played elsewhere in Scotland have got bigger crowds, in far smaller towns.

That aside, nice to see Pete's clip from Beaverwood. Lets try to keep this positive. Please post your comments here once you've seen the band...

Saw Henrik for the first time live yesterday evening at Pete Feenstra's Beaverwood Blues club.  Within a few bars of the first song of the first set I knew that it was going to be a very special evening.  Can't stress enough - don't miss seeing Henrik and his band.  They are all fantastic big_smile

Re: Henrik Freischlader UK Tour

Sounds like a great night was had by all that attended, but Henrik is a 5 Star Blues performer who brings soul and emotion in his songs. Just look at the video Pete has given us of "The Messiah" what tone and delivery ...... yep 5***** Wow
I'm sure Pete has got a few more treats coming soon.
Hope Henrik has a relatively good turn out across The UK, remember when Joe came here first in 2005 he was just packing pubs and clubs to gatherings of 9 to 60, it's a long road to gain substantial noteriety but if you got the talent and tunes you will suceed, Henrik is just pure class and does deserve this, great albums and songs with a very tight strong live show
Good Luck to Henrik and his band

Re: Henrik Freischlader UK Tour

Duncan - my Glasgow ticket number is 13 but my mates have never heard of him so you can't expect much. Joe got 43 on his visit. The Ferry supports the blues but many people turn out on the night so here's hoping. My sister said there was 80-100 last night.

Hey Maggie, tell us how you really feel!!  wink   So happy you all had a lovely evening with Henrik.  I'm so hoping the UK tour does well enough that he might venture over to the US.  I just must see Henrik live!

... and Michael, you are so right about the entire band being so tight, they were in the zone.  Henrik definitely has the talent and hope to see him make his dream come true.
