Topic: TS style Overdrive for Orange Rocker 30?

So I am honey mooning with my amp, and loving it.  Currently for my lead boosts I use either the Celestial Effects Aquarius Fuzz, or the Keeley Time Machine Boost.  Both are great but I was wondering if anyone has used a TS style pedal with a such a mids heavy amp as the Rocker 30, to add a volume boost for leads but also some grit.

those are basically just Marshalls, so go ahead and run a TS-808 and you'll be in heaven

Yeah I may be getting a Jacques Tube Blower.  Really love his work.

Re: TS style Overdrive for Orange Rocker 30?

My favorite pedal for this application is the Fulltone Robin Trower Overdrive.  It is cleaner than a Tubescreamer but it adds a lot of sustain along with some mids.  This pedal is not for everyone so try before you buy.

Re: TS style Overdrive for Orange Rocker 30?

I had a Luther Drive from Gearmanndude that had a volume mod to it.  Everybody loved that pedal because when boosting the level it really boosted everything and was pretty dirty when you need it to be.  But it was  modified ts-808 circuit.  He calaimed it had more mids in it then a ts-808.  I think any of these style drivers will make that Rocker scream.  My favorite one I've heard lately is the Way Huge Over drive green rhino http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRSzBX8W8XE check this guy out he's smooth.

Dom, I should update that delay listing  big_smile I go back and forth between 3 different delays: the AD99, the AD9, and an original Visual Sound H2O.  I really like having chorus and delay and the ability to select each individually, or combine them for some modulation on the delays, soooooo... the H2O is back on the board.  It really is a large pedal though and real estate is at a premium.  I think it is one of the best sounding analog delays out there, the chorus works great and the ability to select one vs the other or both with a foot switch is golden.  For the life of me, I am not sure why something like a Fulltone Choral Flange, a great sounding unit, or some other 2 function pedals, make you get down and use a little toggle switch instead of putting each function at your feet.

That PH99 is a really great pedal IMHO!  To me it is always a toss up between having the flanger and chorus vs flanger and phaser on my board.  flanger and chorus always wins though...  so I guess not much of a toss up at all  big_smile

Still loving it.  The band is too.  It fits better int he mix, and much to my singer/rhythm guitarist's chagrin it sounds 10x better than my old Marshall when recorded (he is a "marshall purist", or was up until recently  big_smile ).

Re: TS style Overdrive for Orange Rocker 30?

Ok so a couple of things changed last night.  I swapped the Eminence Commonwealth with a Big Ben, for the proper impedance matching and the power tubes went to a set of JJ KT77's.  Amp can get even better grind with note definition and very controllable with the volume knob on the guitar, semi-clean to mean.
