For anyone thinking of a trip to Vermot this summer you might want to take this into consideration:

Burlington is a great little town, and Grace and the Nocturnals always have a little something special for the hometown crowd.

I shall, of course, try my best to film as much as possible, though I fear that I may be unable to keep still enough.  roll  Alas, my companion does not have a 'still' mode, so there's no point in asking her to film so that I can 'let go'.  neutral

Is the organ always set up stage left? Tips on choosing position at the front are welcomed.  wink

Seems to be stage left, but she prances around right center a lot.  wink  and there's that bass player off to the right too.  tongue Personally, I recommend as close as humanly possible. Right next to the defibrillator!

Re: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Hi George - I can't imagine how excited you must be at this point.  Stage left is great for seeing  Grace, but you get very limited views of the rest of the band.  I loved being on the right - Benny is crazy-cool to watch on stage and Cat is mesmerizing and you get a much better view of everyone (except Matt sad ) .  Front and center is ideal, but get there early early if this is a standing show.  Have fun!  And make sure Cathy knows where they keep the AED.   lol

OH...................................MY............................God!!!!!!!!!!!

She really is sensational!  tongue  Most of us in the front row were older guys, while behind us were literally dozens of very young girls. Very unlike a Joe show!

Too late for more now, and as a matter of principle I refuse to post my Grace droolings as 'Cathy', since I am still unable to post under my own name!  mad

Re: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

So George - I know you've had a busy few weeks - we're are patiently waiting for your recollections and photos from that night.

In the meantime - Grace's video with Kenny Chesney came out today.  Kenny is one of my favorite on-vacation-at-the-beach artists, and this video (and song) is quite cool.

You guys are slipping - I had to go to page 10 to find this!

George - still want to see your pictures from earlier this year, and read your review.  Are you still struck dumb?

Saw Grace and her gang again last night.  If you could bottle all the energy on that stage there would never be another energy-crisis.  Finally got to hear White Rabbit, and I got a pick, too.

Here's my pictures (point and shoot again   sad   ):

Re: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

In case anyone doesn't already know, although I haven't seen it posted here, Grace is this months guest at 'Live from Daryl's House'.

Haven't watched it myself yet although given this history of this programme it is bound to be tremendous. Great music, but what will they be eating this month?

Re: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

GPN's bassist Cat Popper is leaving the band.  I have no idea what her future plans are but I will miss her presence in the band.  Her and Benny were very entertaining to watch, and that band for sure had an amazing chemistry.  They are supposed to be working on a new album.  Also, just announced today the band will open for the Kenny Chesney tour next summer.  Very mixed reviews coming in on that one.

Did you happen to watch the CMA Awards last Wed. Sandy? Grace did a duet with Kenny Chesney to which my girlfriend remarked, wow, Grace has a better voice than the country girls! All I could say was, Ya think???? God I hope that little twerp Chesney isn't puttin' the moves on Grace!!!

Reading between the lines of what Cat wrote on FB, I can't escape the impression that her departure is not (entirely) voluntary. And I don't want Grace to go do country either.  sad

I don't watch award shows anymore and I'm not much of a Kenny Chesney fan, but "You and Tequila" is one fine song.  Imo, that's the best song either has done and just prooves how freakin' talented Grace is.  I've been playing that song a lot lately.

Re: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Yes J Dawg I did and Grace was the main reason I did watch  (although I must admit the opening skits with Hank Williams Jr and the Barbie/Ken dolls were quite funny.  Just like last year on the VH1 Divas show she blew the other girls away.  If Kenny is putting the move on I am not sure it is reciprocated - Grace has been going out with her drummer Matt Burr for a while.

George - Cat has some health issues, she has had to miss parts of the tours over the last year or so and I wouldn't be surprised if that had something to do with it.  Maybe she wants to settle down for a bit - who knows.  I wish her happiness because she sure helps bring plenty of that to others.

Curby - have you explored any of Grace's older catalogue? PM me your address and I will send you some live shows that I have.  My way of sending some positive vibes your way - big hugs to you and your wife.  You and Tequila is an awesome song, and I love the video.
