Topic: Question about JBLP

All the recent hoo haa about Gibson being raided etc. has had me wondering... With the original JB signature gold top LP's... what is the fingerboard made of?

Googling around, it seems that it is Rosewood.  I am wondering whether it is Indian? Honduran? Brazillian?  neutral

Interested to know, seeing as I have one and should I travel internationally with it, I don't want to end up in a Turkish prison...

Re: Question about JBLP

Gibson has not used Brazilian Rosewood since a limited run in 2003. The fingerboards have either Madagascar or Indian Rosewood.

Re: Question about JBLP

And in the video the CEO said Gibson hasn't bought any wood from Madagascar since the first raid in 2009.

Re: Question about JBLP

Well we know that Gibson hasn't made anything with Brazilian Rosewood since May of 2003. They have used Madagascar in the late 2000's so that would be my guess.

Re: Question about JBLP

I doubt you'll have problems but just use caution when filing any customs documents and carry a copy of the bill of sale with you.
