Topic: Gigged with the Carol Ann JB 100 For the First Time On Saturday

So I finally had the chance to gig my Carol Ann JB 100 a couple of days ago. All I can say is, WOW!

I run a 2 amp rig with a modded and more modern sounding Two Rock "Tone Dog" and my JB 100. I run them each to their own speaker in a StoneAge 2x12 cab. I put a touch of a slapback delay out of my Boss dd3 on the JB 100 and I run a slightly longer delay with a Chrono delay on the Tone Dog. Add a touch of verb that is built in the Tone Dog and not much else is really needed.

The Tone Dog is a bit dark with some chime on the top and the JB 100 just punches everything right up the gut. You don't really appreciate how good the JB 100 really is until you open it up in a band context. It sits in the mix so well and cuts through as well as any amp I've ever played. My Soldano SLO cut through a mix very well and I think the JB cuts even more. It's so cool to get some real snarl out of the amp and then have it clean up and be so precise, all depending on your pick attack. Soloing with it is a trip. Joe's "human voice like" tone is there. My chops can't compete with Joe, but my rig sure can! LOL

I have an Exotic boost to put a bit of "hair" on the JB for solos but found myself not really using it. I did not even have the gain on the JB dialed in that much. It keeps you on your toes when you first play it but once you get your head wrapped around the thing it's a really fun amp to play. Of course my plexi shield and Aracom attenuator is a must at the clubs I play at with the mighty JB 100. It's got to be the loudest amp on the planet!

Thanks Joe for working with Alan to create such a masterpiece. I'll gig the heck out of it in the Seattle, WA area! Looking forward to hearing you play it in sound check when you make it to Seattle. My JB blooms like CRAZY Joe and you are going to want to buy it when you hear it! LOL

I'm doing a 6 song "medley demo" for a cover band I'm currently playing in. All songs will be recorded with the Carol Ann JB 100. I'll try and post them in a couple of weeks when it's complete.
We then plan on starting work on our new original disc. I'll use the JB 100 for most of that also. I'm curious to hear the outcome myself!

Hey man, congrats.  That is a great amp and if you can set it up and use it to its full potential then even better.  Where about in the Seattle are do you play?  what's your band's name?  I got some gear nerd friends up in Queen Anne area and want them to hear the JB live.

Our band's name is "Junction City". We play a mixture of rock, modern country, and a few disco tunes for the ladies to dance to. We'll probably be playing at BB Magraws in Auburn sometime in Oct. The JB 100 will be the amp with the blinding blue light, you can't miss it! LOL
