Re: Buying a Jubilee

On the subject of Black(88/89) Jubilees -

There's a black 2555 for sale on Gumtree UK right now -
http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/vinta … r/83325694
But he wants a grand for it.

I would have got it myself to add to my collection which currently stands at
2554 black, 2553 fullstack Black, 2553 1987 silver.

Re: Buying a Jubilee

I have a 89 2553, 50/25 watt head and it's the best amp i've had. I shape the front with some pedals, when i can't crank it I run a box of rock last in the effects chain which gives a nice crunchy vintage marshall break up. Throw in a fuzz in front and it screams hendrix, the 808 screamer and strat and you get a great blues tone something like philip sayce. Butler tube driver and it gives some nice fat violin tones. With my PRS DGT is screams bonamassa.

Re: Buying a Jubilee

I currently have a black '88 2555 which I've had for ages, awesome amp. Previously I used it as my dirty amp, using the rhythm clip on the clean channel (for rhythm) and then the lead....for leads, plus another black '88 2555 as my clean amp- both through a stereo 4 x 12.
Now I'm using an AFD100 and the first black '88, so i have three different overdriven sounds. If I need a clean sound I just roll the volume off on the guitar. I was thinking about getting the black '88 modified so that the effects loop is switchable and has a return level on it- like the AFD100.

Here's my old band with the twin 2555 set up

Hey StuartC, does the AFD100 have Jubilee type tones within it's arsenal. I thought the previous Slash Marshall was modelled on a Jubilee so I'm wondering if this too might have some Jubilee DNA too?

Re: Buying a Jubilee

To be honest I've not really had much chance to play around with it- found my settings and left it as that!!

Looking at the specs and schematics there is no Jubilee DNA in the AFD 100 whatsoever. The previous slash marshall however was a jubilee reissue - exact same curcuit.
So should sound just like a 2555 original.

Yes, very rarely. I sold a Black 88 back in october, but it took four auctions before anyone bid !?!? It went for a stupidly low price. Oh well, it helped buy my AFD100 and I've still got another Black 88, and that ain't leaving me.

Re: Buying a Jubilee

Here's another black '88. This one's a 25/50 fo sale at Cranes Music in Cardiff. Ticket price £1399 (OUCH!) I'm sure you could bash them down a bit. It's been there for a while.

It's a 1990 Jub and the seller is reluctant to ship. He'd much rather have a local sale. The seller is however, very pleasant to talk to.

The black Jub on TGP is still up for sale. He might ship it if he can work a deal.

The seller won't accept Paypal. At least with Paypal, as a buyer you have some protection.

Electro Music recently were listing a 25/50 '88 for around £700. Turned out to be a commission sale and it had sold by the time I went in.

Sale price was a little over £500.  Needless to say I was gutted  sad

How do you know the year? Black Jubilees were made from 88 until 1990.
