Re: Tour de France 2011

WOW!! One of the most entertaining Tours ever!! I have that same dread that comes at the end of a great Joe show run. Now what? lol  Cadel Evans earned the win. Thrilled for Australia, esp. since my daughter just moved to the Melbourne area. I'm also happy to see the Manx Missile deliver the first Green Jersey to the United Kingdom..congrats... Add in an American team winning the Team Competition as well as the Yellow Jersey.... go USA!!!!  And top it off with a host of young talent from many Nations who added the surprise moments that glimpse into the future. As for the Schlecks, I adore them. First time for brothers to stand on the podium. I think Andy will win one day. He's got to work on the TT and maybe add a little muscle??  Anyway. I'll watch the Vuelta, and any other races I can find, but I'll eagerly await next year's TdF!!!!   Cathy, armchair cyclist  big_smile

+1! Once the race hit the mountains, it was very exciting every day. Lots of very close legs and brilliant efforts by many new faces. Not a hint of doping scandal either. smile  Finally it appears they have found a way to stop cheating. The future of cycling looks much brighter.

Re: Tour de France 2011

We love our sporting heroes in Australia, and Cadel is now listed amongst our greatest. Cadel is only the 3rd non European to win the race (the other two were Lance Armstrong and Greg LeMond from the U.S) so it is a huge effort. Also, he is the oldest winner of the modern era.

A great event to watch from the comfort of your lounge room, even though it didn't finish until 2am here!
