Topic: Mini Two Rock's

Went to try out some of the smaller two rock heads yesterday, particularly the Jet and studio pro. The Custom reverbs are like 4.2k over here which is a bit on the scary side of expensive for me so these smaller units were quite appealing.

I liked the Jet with its two channels but the studio pro 35 blew me away, what a beautiful tone. Used a Sandberg strat and an aged Sandberg Florence and it just sounded immense with either, super dynamic and responsive but never harsh or piercing.
They arent as well built as my Matchless, as far as I'm concerned those guys build the best quality amps around, but the compact size, excellent tone and even the prospect of my pedals working in tandem with it (Just got a very nice bob Burt clean boost) is a mouth watering prospect!

I had a Studio Pro at home for a two day trial.  It sounded great although the only cabinets I had to run it through were 4x10's.  In the end I just could not justify the cost so I sent it back. It had great tone but you better be spot on with your playing.  It wasn't very forgiving!

+1,  Yeah...these amps give you back what you put into them....mistakes not hidden behind any "mud" tone.  You'll also find yourself not using as many effect pedals, as the clean and or OD tone (TR 2-channel amps) is awesome.

I have a TR Jet Combo wrapped in a custom Royal Blue tolex TR did that I also run into a TR Sig 1x12 cab, but have luxury to use as a grab n' go amp and with no pedals get right in the Matt Schofield tone foundation. 

I haven't played Studio Pro yet and haven't heard a good clip on YT of one yet either, though want an excuse to buy the 35-watt head version, I've been reluctant to buy blind, as TR's clean channels are voiced nearly the same, particualry at low to meduim volume. I've found amps get their identity from each other when cranked or 1- to 2-channel models.

AWESOME AMPS - Worth Price of Admission IMO....if you can use a 22 or 35-watt head/combo, many will second guess in U.S. to buy a Ceriatone (Nik is great, I own OTS, love it), but cost difference is no longer that great and TR is faster and easier to buy in U.S.

Well, I succumbed, a 35w Studio is on its way hopefully next week. I didnt really think I would like the single channel but I felt the others lost something in having a two channel set up but thats merely a personal observation.

A mate of mine is doing a full pro demo of the two rock line next week, he does online demos for a large music shop over here and theyre now a two-rock official dealer, hes a cracking player and is going into a top studio to do the demos, hes also taking a couple of top session guys in too! When the demos are up I'll post a link.  smile

Well, she hath arrived and all the signs are good, cant crank it yet but looking forward to rehearsal tonight to see how she performs!  smile

Congratulations!  I've yet to actually play through  a Two Rock, but there is a local dealer.

I'm thinking about moving up in wattage a bit and Two Rock in on list.

Currently, I am quite happy with my Swart STR.  For 5watts is sounds quite big and for home use it's excellent.

Hmmm, well, the love affair was very short lived. Far too clean, even with pedals it was a nightmare trying to get a suitable classic rock sound out of it, was great when it was dimed but even a 35w amp dimed will destroy eardrums and drown out drummers.
So shes going back to whence she came, I might have another look at them again but this would be a great clean amp for someone who likes very little breakup at decent pub/club gigging levels.

I'vr actually got a guy building an amp for me at present based on a super high spec soldano SLO circuit, early days yet but I'l keep you allposted.  smile

As I said earlier, I only had mine for a two day trial, but I came to a very similar conclusion.  I could not get enough gain out of it at a reasonable volume either.  I found myself starting to stack overdrive pedals with it and I just could not justify having to do that with a $2500 amp. I probably should have tried the Gainmaster model instead as the Studio Pro is a very clean based amp.  I was hoping for clean and overdrive but basically only got clean.  But it is a beautiful clean, with, if I remember correctly very good reverb and a good effects loop.  On the positive side, at least I tried one and got it out of my head!

Yes mate, I bought it from Andertons in the UK who are a main dealer and I have a very good relationship with, fantastic guys there. The owner Lee passed a message onto me saying that I should get the Jet 35w as it would blow my mind but I'm thinking it might blow my wallet as well!  smile
My mate chappers has just completed a full band studio demo of all the Two Rock line up, as soon as it hits YT I'll post a link up for everyone.

My mate chappers has just completed a full band studio demo of all the Two Rock line up, as soon as it hits YT I'll post a link up for everyone.

I own a TR Jet, great amp, as you know 2-channel and you can blend clean with OD channel - basically a mini TR Custom Reverb.  Mine is about 4-years old and can be used as 22-watt or 35-watt via tubes.  I have it at 22-watts, seems comfortably at this wattage, as it get break up a little faster. 

Look forward to seeing TR Demo's when you post link.  I'm been trying to make an excuse to buy Pro Studio, but a few have told me they weren't happy with amp, as even with pedals, it wants to resist breaking up.

I just read the review and watched the demo in the latest guitarist mag of these amps. I'm in love with the studio 35. Such a beautiful tone with a strat. Considering shifting some guitars to make room for one. It does the John Mayer thing perfectly. Love him or hate him, John Mayer has some serious tone!

Thanks for sharing!!  I don't beleive any demo is a bad one, but would liked if they showed settings on amp and most importantly, didn't use any pedals at all - just be able to hear amp naked.  Again, no demo is a bad one and thanks for not fogetting to post  - it was a good viewing!!
