Topic: JBLP Flame Top coming soon!!!!

Meet Joe for the first time yesterday in Dublin just after soundcheck super nice guy were he played my guitar JB #179 and chatted to me about my guitar he knew straight away that it was tuned Eb and I asked him could he tell me what sort of maple cap was under the paint, but he reckoned they are a two piece off set maple and advised me not to strip it so I won't!! But he mentioned very briefly they are bring out a flame top JBLP but he didn't say when, and I didn't want to press him on it!!! has anyone else heard Joe mention this before I'm just wandering will it be CS or a more affordable model?

Re: JBLP Flame Top coming soon!!!!

I'm guessing a Flame top will be a Custom/Historic Shop run...... $$$$
Remember the flame or amount of flame has nothing to do with the sound...lots of factors involved with that...Setup is the most important one...

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Probably. Hey, maybe we'll see it equipped with a Bigsby? That would be really cool. I love JB Signature Guitars.  big_smile

Re: JBLP Flame Top coming soon!!!!

I hope that it'l be a studio model (though I doubt it). As I played one of the new JB studios in Dublin yesterday before the BCC gig and it was a great guitar and even better value, way better than an ordinary studio I compared it with. big_smile

Guitars: Epiphone JBLP, Epiphone Les Paul Custom
Amps: Marshall Vintage Modern, 18 watt clone

Re: JBLP Flame Top coming soon!!!!

A candy apple blue studio would be fun too.  A flamed CS with a bigsby would be unreal!

Re: JBLP Flame Top coming soon!!!!

Since Joe slipped and let the proverbial cat out of the bag, yes I was told by someone other than Joe that there's another JB Les Paul coming. I don't know if it's a dealer exclusive but they are "coming out in a couple months" as I was told but I'm betting it's likely longer than that. I do know it's a custom shop model so it won't be cheap. I've been hoping it would be a copy of Joe's 59. Maybe it will. Maybe it won't. I don't think the man has let the guitar out of his sight! anyway....

Time will tell. Have patience my friends.

This sounds awesome! Ever since Joe signed my burst, I've been afraid to pick up and play it. Looking forward to seeing pics and specs!

Wow!!!!  Can't wait to see Flame Top!!!!!!

Off the topic sorry, but when you have Joe B. sign your guitar, don't you have him sign back of headstock, so it doesn't fade, smear, etc - it's also not intrusive visually??

That's what I should have done, but there isn't too much room up there considering that's where the serial number is. I had Joe sign right next to the bridge. I didn't give any thought to it ahead of time and I don't interfere with it when I play, but it's always a risk.  hmm

Jimmy I was right there in line in Sayreville. I met you out in the foyer (the sweat shop) while we waited for the meet/greet to begin. Yea the best spot is the back of the headstock if you play the guitar. There's room on the back of the headstock and Joe does sign them there if you ask. Hell he'll sign his name almost anywhere! Joe's guarantee is it'll last until you need it done again!

Joe, how many of your signatures have been tattoo'd now??  lol

LOL, I had a feeling that was you, Spider! That show was killer wasn't it?! I really like to take care of the guitar as much as I can because it's not everyday you get to meet up with the great Joe Bonamassa! We brought him a copy of Jeff Beck's biography. Hope he's enjoying it!

Yep - Joe signed mine behind the headstock, and I have been playing the heck out of it ever since..... Every time I wipe the guitar down to put it back in it's case, I pause and check out the sig...  tongue

Back on topic - Great to hear that they are bringing out a flame top model.  If it is a butterscotch version with a Bigsby like he played on the Albert Hall DVD then I am going to have to grow a few more kidneys to sell...  lol

Well, I hope it doesn't come out too soon.  Having purchased a JB VOS Bonaburst and JB Studio already this year my pocketbook won't be able to do another guitar so quickly.

On the other hand, I can't wait to see what they do for a flame top.

I'll just keep telling myself, "patience grasshopper."
