Topic: Headstock Tuners

Anyone use or have any thoughts on the tuners that clamp on to the head stock of the guitar.  I would love to get the tuner off of my pedal board and out of my signal chain.  I am curious as to how these head stock tuners work and if they are even usable on an electric guitar.

Re: Headstock Tuners

The Snarks are superb mate, they work spot on, the other guitar player in the band swears by his and just leaves it on there all the time now!

yeah Snarks are awasome once you use them you will never go back. Great to keep in your case for tuning when you want to play without your amp. fits nicely in case and also only $30

Re: Headstock Tuners

They work, Planet Waves one does anyways...
I think think there's a piezo element that vibrates the tuner... so as long as your headstock vibrates you should be goldie!

Re: Headstock Tuners

Thanks for the input guys.  I am going to give one of these a shot.

Re: Headstock Tuners

Thanks for your guidance on this guys.  I bought a Snark and I love it.  One more pedal off the pedal board!  My Boss Tuner seemed to be a bit of a tone sucker.

Re: Headstock Tuners

I guess I could pull my TU2 and see what tone suck or lack occurs, but my board seems to sound fine with it and most pro players have on their board.  Anyone actually test for tone suck and hear a big loss and if so, why do so many pro's use them on board?

Thanks.

A few reasons really, you can forget a headstock tuner, not many people forget their pedals! Most boards are mains powered so you wont be left tuner=less due to a dead battery mid gig, also silent guitar changes is the biggest one for me.
Like I said previously though the snarks and others are brilliant little things, worhtwhile investment!

Re: Headstock Tuners

I am no pro, but with my Boss tuner I did notice a slight dampening effect on my signal.  Keep in mind I use old amps with no effects loops so everything goes out front.
