Topic: Aynsley Lister
Got turned on to this by Lady Jane. Really good stuff. I think this is an English band. I couldn't find the new release on Amazon. I'll try Ruff Records. Do they tour the US? And, is the DVD good? Thanks, Cathy

I was able to order from the Ruf site and only 2.25 mailing..This guy is an awesome guitar player with a nice voice!!!
Jane, I looked and couldn't find any posts..tell me where.......
jane that is an awesome avitar .I actually have that lp. that is an obscure album for sure but some tasty fusion.RTF one of my favorite bands of all time.I like Lister too.
Cathy,
Lister's new CD "Upside Down" is excellent. His CD "Everyting I need" is awesome as well. It's amust have for any Aynsley Lister fan. Both DVD's by Lister are excellent . The newest DVD Blus Caravan also features Ian Parker and Erja Lyytinen. The start out with an acoustic set with all 3, then each does a solo set with their own band and finaaly all 3 join forces to close the show with some hight energy electric blues.
Lister 's earlier DVD Aynsley Lister LIve features Lister with his band. His drummer on Live is Sarah Jones and hse was 19 or 20 at that time. She is one heck of a drummer. Thi DVD also opens with Aynsley solo on acoustic for 2 songs befroe he plugs in and the fun really starts. Lister is on eof my favorite artists. He plays great guitar, has awesomew tone, has an excellent voice, and writes most of his own songs.
Both DVD and all his CDS are worth having. I know I have them all.

Thanks for the feedback David....I also saw in Blues Review that there is CD/DVD Ruf Anthology: 12 years of "Where Blues Crosses Over" that I think I'm going to have to buy. It has Aynsley, Walter Trout, Jeff Healey and of course the Allisons. (Didn't know Luther Allison's brother started Ruf Records.) The CD I have is "Everything I Need". What I find most appealling,, besides the talent, is the quality of that recording..The tone, the volume, the mix, I'm not a player, just a listener, but WOW!
I know, take a break...But, I got the Live DVD today and LOVE it. I am very impressed with Sarah on drums. I love the rhythm, drum and bass, on "Everything I Need". I hope Sarah is the drummer on that! I've ordered the new CD. I'm also pleased that I thought I heard a Les Paul and there it was. Yes, there was a Strat as well.. Bless the Brits!!!! Cathy
Cathy,
Glad to hear you are enjoying the LIVE DVD. It's a killer show. You're right Sarah is an excellent drummer.
Upside Down is a 5 star CD, every cut is a winner. Alex Thomas plays drums on Upside Down.
Wish I could be in Omaha in Sept. Lister is opening for Jeff Healy on the 22nd.
In fact he plays in Omaha on Sept. 22, 23, & 27.
Sept. 28 in Kansas City. MO
Sept. 29 in Des Moines, IA
Sept. 30 in St. Louis, MO
Only dates in the US this year. Too bad I am jsut starting a nrw job and have no vacation time or I would be there. I hope he returns in 2008. If so, I won't miss him then.

David, I've always believed you meet the people you are supposed to meet if you pay attention. When I got to the Fest in Hagerstown, I went to visit my "buddies" from Blues Review. I always buy them a beer for being so good to Joe. I asked them about Aynsley and ironically another guy standing there had just moved back to the DC area from England and was also talking about him!! Backtracking...I e-mailed Ruf's PR asking for more US tour dates and to suggest venues in Md. They e-mailed back that he just got a US booking agent, that he enjoys his sucess in Europe but realizes he has to come to the "home of the blues". So, the fella I met is going to e-mail me and we're going to work to get a real tour happening..He is also familiar with the Hoax. So, we'll see what happens. Again, thanks for all the info....Cathy ps..Just went to Blues Wax site and read a bio on Lister and found out that Jesse Davey (of the Hoax) produced the American release of "Everything I Need". That explains the quality of this recording.
I have been in communication with his U.S. agent. She is working on an extensive U.S. tour for '08. So, if you live near one of the above dates go see him! I promise a Joe-like experience. I'm annoying and won't go away so please humor me!! Oh, my new friend I met who know's Aynsley was at the WMBF as a guest of Walter Trout! Funny!
I heard a live version of Aynsley performing the Good Reverend Al Green's "Take Me To The River" (made popular by the Talking Heads) that really, reeeeeeally rocks. In fact one of the faithful here sent it to me. Good stuff.
Finally, I got the new CD "upside down". There's something for everybody! Acoustic, "Beautiful", is exactly that. The opener "Find my way Home", is a 4/4 stomper. "With me Tonight" is my kind of rockin blues, "In the Morning" fools you, opening "old school" then turns into a rocker that continues on thru the title track. Then comes "Disorderly Me", another one of those great texas blues feeling diddies..very satisfying....12 songs in all. Worth the wait...........Cathy
Cathy,
GLad you are enjoying the new Lister CD. Your right it has something for everybody on it.
I got an email from Lister's US booking agent. I'm going to suggest places on the West Coast (Northern CA, Reno or Tahoe) so I can see him in '08.
Aynsley will do well in the US if enough people hear him.
David
Yes, I've been in touch too, so let me know if/when...But, ( I hope no one's listening in, I will be tarred and feathered)..I have issues with the new CD like I do with Joe's "So It's Like That"..Too something, I don't know, too "studio", "pop",( DON"T QUOTE ME JANE!! LOL). And like SILT it has some real gems "With Me Tonight" is one. All just my opinion, but can't wait to see him live!!!! Cathy
angel o mine ....very nice song from aynsley lister
greetz geko
Once again, Thank you Jane..I'm offically registered! "My " band, "Noth'in but Trouble", is going to do a cover of "Soundman". It's such a funny song! Cathy
Just read that Aynsley recorded 3 tracks for the Paul Jones show(BBC2)to be aired 2 july07 evening show. Is this the one we can get in the states? And when and where would that be for me(EDT)? Thanks, Cathy

Hey Cathy,
Thanks for the heads up regarding Aynsley on the Paul Jones show. Here's a link to Paul's website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/jones/
You can listen live here in the States (not positive, but I think it would be 2:00 pm ET) or if you can't hear the show live you can listen to a replay for up to a week later, I believe. Just go to Paul's website and find the link that says "Listen Again - Hear the show".
