Re: Rival Sons

iTunes offered that song a couple weeks ago as a free download to promote their new album.  I posted awhile back about their first album Before the Fire that I think is a little better.  The band definitely has a Led Zep thing going, but there are other 60/70's flavors as well - most noticeably Blue Cheer.

Re: Rival Sons

Have been listening to there material for awhile now and like there sound. They are on tour in Europe now but i hope to git a chance to see them when they come back to the states. Here is a youtube video from a recent show in Chicago.

PR has been playing this track for a few weeks and it caught my ear too. I really like it.

I didn't know they are playing High Voltage but they are another good reason to go both days.

Re: Rival Sons

Phil - are you going to High Voltage both days? Chance to meet up maybe? I like the new Rival Sons album but not the earlier songs.

Kenny

I was wondering if Pressure and Time would be the best place to start I loved the song

Re: Rival Sons

I went through my collection of those CR "freebie promo cds" and found the Rival Sons EP - not bad but only two worth ripping IMO, track 5 & 6, Sleepwalker - Soul.

I'm likely to be going on the Sunday. I especially want to see Saint Jude and, of course, BCC. Maybe we can manage more than a distant wave this time Kenny? smile

Checked out Rival Sons, thanks Brack, and liked what I heard but their other London gig at the Borderline on 13th July is sold out and I definitely won't be at High Voltage on the Saturday sad

Interesting assessment, Curby! For whatever cozmic reason I have had Blue Cheer on my mind for a week now...I'll have to take a look at the clip soon (at work) and maybe delve in deeper...

Re: Rival Sons

I had the chance to interview guitarist Scott Holiday from the band on the phone.  We talked about how the band was formed, the recording process for the new album, the current tour, and some other topics. Here's a link.

Re: Rival Sons

Pressue and Time...

Hello, call from Jimmy Page...he wants his Out on the Tiles riff back...and his riff was far better...

Still...the guy has a great voice.

Dave, come on now.Jimmy Page is one of the best ever and one of my favs, but don't go there.I thnk he may have embellished a riff or two in his day.I read that Keith Richards song writing technique is or was in the beginning  to play someones riff until it sounds a little different. How many old blues guys got their riffs taken back in the sixties by young up and comming rockers?Oh by  the way that's why I like the song, didn't catch it at first but your right about the riff. Here I thought something original lol we cool? I know your sticking up for your man.
