Topic: Dimarzio Injector

I have been on a bridge pick up mission.  After I finished my Flying V, I worked on my Strat.  I wanted more beef in the bridge but I wanted to retain the single coil look.  I installed a Dimarzio Injector which is the Paul Gilbert signature pick up.  So far so good, but I can't say I have completed the test period yet.  Cranked it through the Bassman the other night and it sounded very good.  It is a single coil size humbucker so it is noiseless.  I would describe the sound as a very fat single coil or even a very low output PAF.  It is wired to the bottom tone control so I can smooth it out as needed.  I like it very well but I am still in the honeymoon period.  Also, my strat still looks like a stock strat! It does like overdrive.

Re: Dimarzio Injector

Sounds pretty cool.  Never owned a Strat, but humbucker output in the bridge sound good to me.  Enjoy!

Re: Dimarzio Injector

Hey Guytron, thanks for your comment.  The music store I usually shop at had just received those Suhr pickups and I was torn between those and the Injector.  I wanted the extra thickness and based on your comments it sounds like I made the right choice.

Re: Dimarzio Injector

Hey man, yeah I've got the full set in a custom made jaden rose guitar, I really like them for more modern rock stuff, they still sound very defined when you whack a boatload of gain up them too. They clean up really well too and as you say they rae noiseless but to be honest hum never bothered me anyway!

If you're interested heres some YT vids of me demoing the injector loaded guitar :-)

Re: Dimarzio Injector

Sted man nice playing bro.  You really got that Joe Bonamassa style vibrato down pat.  What were you using amp wise with those pickups?  Sounded very Marshall like.

Re: Dimarzio Injector

Ron,

Yes, I am on of the MAINE BOYS, Jay here....we spoke before the show, during the meet and greet.

Brett was cool enough to feature us both in one of the "ON THE ROAD" youtube videos, even threw "Jay and Joe" into the video, how cool was that???

The GOLDIE is done -- with the exception of remaining set-up work and decals...working on scoring a couple of the decals that I cannot find....

Will post shots in the next week or so....

Re: Dimarzio Injector

Ron,

Will be at the WANG show in Nov., and looking forward to it.  Just caught the BCC show in Hampton Beach, that was a rocking event as well....bumped into Joe and Roy on the street as was making last trip from unpacking the car.....had a nice little chat.

Been keeping my eye out for an age JB Les Paul as well, in the meantime, just ordered up a JB LP Studio.....should have that in Aug?   Might try to see if I can get that bad boy signed, and if I can, will bring my GOLDIE???
