Topic: Putting a Bufferd loop in a Ceriatone HRM

Instead of getting a Klienator of C-lator has anyone just put in a buffered loop kit in one of these amps.  Ive been thinking of doing this that way I can just cut down on extra outbound gear.  I just makes sense to me.

What do you think?

Re: Putting a Bufferd loop in a Ceriatone HRM

I wouldn't go that route personally ..if a tube buffered loop was an effective way to get the sound then I'm sure that Howard Dumble would have included it rather than in insert loop ..they're hardly budget amps so it wouldn't be an exercise in corner cutting.

The c-lator and k-lator work well and give you a range of tweaks that give a better chance of a sound that you'll be happy with.

Another thing to remember is that C'lator and K'lator color the sound so I'm not sure that a buffered loop would get the same tonal ball park either.

I'd also expect the tube buffered approach to be significantly more expensive.

All that said if you do go that route I'd be interested to know how it goes smile

I went K'lator and insert loop on my Trainwreck clone and it took a fair bit of adjustment of the knobs to get the sound I was after.

PS. if you decide to go for an integrated loop there's a serial / parallel loop schematic that sounds interesting at amp garage: http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10477

However I think you need to register in order to access their files section so the link may not work.

Re: Putting a Bufferd loop in a Ceriatone HRM

its not really that expensive its like $100 bones.  I I think dumble knew he f up because that's why he made dumbleators.  Also you can get tub effects loops as well.

Re: Putting a Bufferd loop in a Ceriatone HRM

I have a Ceriatone HRM and I used a Boss rv5 in the loop and it sounded fine

but I built a C Lator into the back of the Head to save carrying extra cables ect and

although it gives good control ofer effects in the loop if I had to do without it I could !!

Re: Putting a Bufferd loop in a Ceriatone HRM

Of all things I have heard a Digitech RP50 is a budget solution based on a few members on the Ceriatone forum. Myself I went with C-lator. Actually ordered the kit when Nik still offered kits and they accidently sent it pre-built ( oops )

Without loop at all I can get great tone with Zendrive>DD-3 > input on clean channel. Use Zen for OD which is very much in same realm as amps OD when used on the amps clean only. If you use the amps OD with the delay in front it can sound awful though.

Let us know what you find works
