Topic: Million Dollar Les Paul

This post isn't really a question, more a mere observation...

I was reading the book "The Million Dollar Les Paul" over the past few days, and to my surprise I found a chapter where the author interviewed JoBo about his thought's regarding the real 'Bursts of '58, '59 and '60. Turns out he said he was definitely never going to buy one for several reasons.. Funny how minds change!! Haha!

Re: Million Dollar Les Paul

I bet one of those reasons was the fact he never thought he could afford one! Like you said, s'funny how things change!
Cant think of another player who deserves one more than Joe, a true ambassador to the Lester.

Re: Million Dollar Les Paul

I love the fact he got a plain top its just not that fancy of a top, but it has a nice grain to it.  Its a lot like Clapton's Beano.

Right on, me too.  I don't care much for flame tops, ..quilt I like.  But Plain Jane all the way!

Re: Million Dollar Les Paul

I don't care for the looks (as long as it's a LP of course), just that sweet midrange honk.

So many fools have the fanciest looking guitars out there and they just sound 'okay'.

Music is about your ears. Music is not about your eyes.

Re: Million Dollar Les Paul

I have to agree. In this book I read about all these collectors solely basing the value of these 'Bursts on their top! Are they mad! When you go to see someone like joe live, you don't remember how exquisite the flame on a guitar was, you remember how f'ing good he was at playing the damn thing!!

I guess there are 'collectors' then there are 'players'.. I'm definitely one of the latter.

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Great book

Re: Million Dollar Les Paul

Joe's 59 sounds great. That's why he bought it. Although his Bonamassa Signature is almost there.
