Topic: Joe's gear at Royal Festival Hall with Jack Bruce?

I was wondering if anybody knows what Joe was using at the gig with Jack Bruce this past weekend?

It appeared like he was plugged into a pair of Tweed amps... The tone was amazing, very Claptonesque.

....ahh!...glad you asked that!... cos' I accidently on purpose zoomed in for a breif moment at the end of Spoonful on the amps!... though i'm not 'geek' enough to know what i am looking at!

...right at the end just before they take a bow!  wink

Nice vids.

Do those name plates say something other than Fender, or is it the lighting?

Re: Joe's gear at Royal Festival Hall with Jack Bruce?

Could be wrong but I bet thats the 59' up there.  Didn't Joe tell someone he got some amps recently from the UK from a friend that builds amps?  I'll look back and see if I can't find that.  It was in the last month I thought.

Re: Joe's gear at Royal Festival Hall with Jack Bruce?

Those are possibly the Lazy J amps' take on a Tweed Twin. 80W of tube power with no shrill high end. Joe seems to like them. Gave me serious GAS for a Tweed Twin to replace/add to my Peavey Classic 30.

100% 2 x Lazy J 80's.

Looks like the mystery is solved...

That's definitely his 59...I just couldn't tell what amps those were....

I think he should have busted out an old Plexi and a Gibson SG.

If his LP's burst looks a bit plain, it would be his 59. I thought it was a 58 since it lacked the flame but I think the aging process dulled the flames.

Joe if you're reading this - your 59 has the best tone among the guitars you brought on your Asian/Australian tour. A close second was the JB Les Paul. Your 59 had the beef and clarity that others can only dream of. That was phenomenal tone I heard in Singapore.

The Lazy J stuff is AMAZING. Jesse Hoff builds them to a VERY high standard. Users include Townsend, Clapton, Doyle Bramhall and now Joe  smile

I wish I could afford one but, for now, I have the Lazy J drive/boost pedal called the Cruiser. Stunning. Best pedal I've had in years and highly recommended.

Re: Joe's gear at Royal Festival Hall with Jack Bruce?

Hey Guys...
Here was the rig I used for the Jack Bruce show....  I used my 59 LP Standard "Magellan" through 2 Lazy J 80 watt tweed twins.  These amps are my favorite fender style combos I have ever played.  Jesse was nice enough to loan me them for the occasion.  I used a Tube Screamer and of course a Crybaby Wah Wah.. I mean... White Room....?  It would not be the gentleman things to do that song without paying tribute to the original version and God himself.

No mistaking the tone of that '59. That is one great Burst.
