Thanks for those links Eva ... really loved You Shook Me!  Didn't know she had toured with Jeff Beck.  Did you get to see her at the Netherlands concert?

These teasers are making me eager for the Joe/Beth cd to come out!

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

I was fortunate enough to receive a promo copy of ‘Don’t Explain’ by Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa yesterday as I’ve been asked to interview Beth for Blues Matters magazine. I’ve listened to it a few times now. It really is an excellent release where Joe’s superb and varied guitar work takes a slight backstep to the wonderful vocals of Beth Hart. Although initially envisaged as a soul album it sees Joe musically tackle a wide range of musical styles including soul, blues jazz and rock. The 10 song collection is a full set of covers of artists including Nina Simone (the title track), Etta James, Tom Waites, and Aretha Franklin. Sinners Prayer is a bluesy opener with recognisable lyrics on a song previously recorded by Ray Charles with BB King. Chocolate Jesus is quirky and jazzy and a potential single (as are several). Those fans who like a harder edged sound will like For My Friend, a Bill Withers song and a great version of I’d Rather Go Blind is also a highlight. Joe does not sing at all, but his guitar work is unquestionably good with restraint where required and solos which represent the emotions of the songs. This is overall a big departure from the styles we associate with Joe with some piano led song and strings on the title track. Shirley’s production is perhaps a little cold, but there is humour to songs like Something’s Got A Hold Over Me, and sorrow on some of the slower songs. It’s an album worthy of crossover success for both artist and I can promise you, you’re in for a treat when you hear it. Personally much more up my street than Black Country Communion and some fans may not take to it immediately, but this is one of Joe’s Finest Releases to date. It comes out in Europe/UK on 26th September.

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

Thanks for the pseudo-peek Greenose!!! Sounds right up my alley... Really makes it even more interesting and hard to wait to hear (what I had hoped and expected) the venturing into other boundaries.  You know it, Duncan, Joe pulls those everybody may not like it strings, er, BENDS those everybody may not like it things  lol Thanks again.

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

I absolutely love Beth Hart's voice.  I am, however, a tiny bit disappointed that Joe doesn't sing at all on the album.  I was hoping to get a little duet action on this record but I know I'm going to love it anyway.  Ready to pre-order.  Just tell me when and where.  cool

I'm with you on all points, Susan! I absolutely love Beth AND Joe's voices, so I would like to have heard a duet or two from them.  That said, I somehow can feel and trust that it may just be better this way.

I also would have liked to hear a duet but I'm sure they know what they're doing. I'm so excited!  cool
