Topic: Fulltone 69'

So the originals go for like $400 these days, but the new ones in the ODC size stomp boxes are are $169.  What do you think is this pedal really that great?  I pre ordered one because I've always wanted one but I'm afraid its not going to be as good as the original ones.  Should I try it or pass on it?  Its preordered and not due til July sometime if then.  I thought about the 70' thats $149 right now but every demo I've ever heard I thought that 69' was to die for.  Also thought about the Octofuzz because its like 2 pedals in one.  HELP!

Re: Fulltone 69'

I used to have one back in the day...But i traded it like an f***in idiot...

I honestly can't remember what I even traded it for....probably one of the biggest regrets I've made....

I'd get one if you like it..

Re: Fulltone 69'

One of my fav pedals just gotta remember its a fuzz, it does the rolling down to clean up so well and nails the hendrix sound if thats ur cup of tea. Only draw back is it doesn't take the crybaby well you can adjust it to sound good with wahs but I think it sounds a bit crappy with out one then. Just to make u guys sick, I picked mine up on eBay for £70 years ago its one of the originals too smile

Re: Fulltone 69'

Ahhh, please tell me they were still in production when you stole that thing!  I really am not worried about the wah tones right now.  I had a standard crybaby about a year ago and sold it on Ebay with a couple of other things to buy a new computer.  I'm just now in the posistion where I could consider buying stuff again.  When I found the pre order on Musicians Friend I couldn't resist.  Hope these verison 3 sound anywhere near the originals.

Re: Fulltone 69'

I doubt they would sound like the original 69's. If they were then why was there the "Slight Return" reissue offered? Keep your eyes open. You'll find an original at a fair price. Be patient.

EDIT: Here's one that sold cheap!

Deals can be found!!!

Re: Fulltone 69'

Yeah but the slight returns didn't sound exactly like the originals from what I heard.  I heard those were only about 98% there and these new ones are transistors from the same batch.

Have you actually A/B'd the SR and the original 69 or you just "heard it from somebody" that the  SR69's were not as good? Both were made with the same components, although the NKT-275's that Mike would only use were a small count find, hence the name.

If you get one of the new 69's and a SR69, I'll happily provide you with a original Fulltone 69 so you can A/B/C them in person. Yes I want it back! Yeah the originals do sound great. The best I've heard next to a Soul Bender.

Re: Fulltone 69'

I think I read that off the Fulltone website that he thought the Germanium transistors were about 98% as good as the originals but I can't find that now that I'm looking for it.  Also I found this great Youtube Video that shows both pedals at the same time.  Given its a video and not my own ears, but honestly both sound really good to me.  I could get a used 69' slight return or get this new MKII version that has a 45 day return if decide I just don't dig it.  Heres that video I saw

As for borrowing your original pedal, I going to respectfully decline for fear that if something happened to it I would get my butt kicked, and two I might like it a lot better and have to find a way to get one.  tongue
