Topic: Columbus Guitar show

hmm Well, I'm going to try make this more a positive than a negative.  Went to the show Saturday....looking for a Gib 335.  I have to say there were a number of them to choose from, and I did find one I wanted to purchase.  The negative....only cash was acceptable...no debit cards or checks.  I don't make a habit of going places with $2,000 in my pocket.  I was told there was a cash machine, but the problem with that is my bank only allows $2,000 max a day.  Since I drove 2 1/2 hours to get there, gas was needed.  Then went to go to the machine to purchase a couple of peddles.....no cash, it was empty.  This was at 2:45, and the show went to 6:00.  So, my sympathies the vendors who lost sales because of the system in place and to those who drove some distance only to find they couldn't make their purchase.  Please organizers, make a change for the next show.  The people were great, there were some very nice guitars, and I spoke to a number of Joe fans.

Re: Columbus Guitar show

Ah thats a shame.  Last time I went to a guitar show was in 2002 Febuary and walked out with a 68' ES-335 that had been refinished to hide a broken headstock.  Pickups weren't original either.  But it sound fantastic, was cherry, and had the block inlay I wanted for the price I could afford.  $2000 so I gave them a cheap strat trade in and they knocked $300 off the guitar.  $1700, and they took my credit card the old fashon way with carbon paper.  I guess they are trying to keep away from that to protect you, but in the end the very things that protect us will also hurt us.  Good luck finding another 335.
