Re: Amp Switchers

Hi!
Old thread but that's exactly where I'm at these days. I will be using a Marshall 18w head replica and a Fender tweed Deluxe head replica. Both heads will be going to a 2X12 cab with 2 EVM12Ls, one EV per head. A kind of smaller Joe rig! AB/Y pedal, with both amps on most of the time.
So far I've reduced my search to three switchers:
1. Lehle Dual SGoS or Lehle Little Dual (haven't understood what the main difference between them is...)
2. Voodoo Lab Amp Selector.

I know that Carl Verheyen uses the Lehle Dual SGoS, I saw his demo on youtube. What bothers me with the Voodoo is it's much bigger and can manage 4 amps, when I'll only use 2, never more. Seems a little overkill to me. However, it can be had used for a lot less than a Lehle. So, I need you here...

Thanks!

I wouldn't spend the money on the voodoo lab switcher unless you're going to use 3 or 4 amps.  Plus it's just way too big in my opinion.  I'd just get a whirlwind switcher but if you're concerned of ground loop issues might as well get something that offers ground lifts and be done with it.  Those Lehles are so expensive, but they're supposedly built quite nice.

Lehle swtchers are first class, have a look at them mate.  smile

Re: Amp Switchers

Lehle Dual is great.

On the LEHLE dual or sgos I bought a radial little bigshot , it works well

for the money but as it did not have any indication of which amp was on

it was awkward to us so got a Lehle Dual it is the best by far

Radial has one that's part of their "Bones" line of pedals that runs on a 9v or PSU and has LED's to indicate A, B or Y. It seems to be just like the Big Shot ABY but with upgrades. It's twice the money though   sad

Yep looks better

another issue for me though was the 2 buttons the Lehle has three so it is much

simpler to hit the amp you want. wit one hit some times you would have to hit the

radial  twice if you want to switch from both to say amp A

Re: Amp Switchers

Looks like you've all sold me on the Lehle Dual SGoS... Can't wait to play my Marshall 18w and my Tweed Deluxe together. Should sound huge...  big_smile

Re: Amp Switchers

The nice aspect of the Dual is the ability to connect a third amp or have a dedicated tuner "out."

+ 1.  Having a tuner out is nice, but the third output is really just an excuse to get another amp "just in case".  -Seth

Re: Amp Switchers

Well, you wouldn't want that output to just be sitting there empty, would you?  cool

Re: Amp Switchers

Well, I don't need a third output (what's the benefit of having that for the tuner btw????). The only thing I like on the Dual SGoS over the Little Dual is the volume control on the pedal for each amp. I don't think the Little has that. Apart from that, I just don't need the extra option of the Dual SGos (Midi, 3rd output). So, maybe the Little Dual after all....?

Some people like having a separate "tuner out" so they can not have the tuner in their signal path.  You can leave the tuner on all the time since it will always have a signal being sent to it.  But if you want to tune, you can't do it in silence since your guitas volume knob has to be up for the guitar to register on the tuner..  I personally like to have it right before my switcher box so I can MUTE my signal to tune or to unplug my guitar and switch to another guitar without having all that noise from the cable.

Re: Amp Switchers

You can put the tuner on the third output so that it's not coloring your signal. You CAN tune in silence at any time by switching off the inputs to amps 1 & 2 (leaving #3-tuner on).
