Topic: Joe should do a Bob Dylan song....

So I am a huge Bob Dylan fan.... and I have been thinking that a lot of guitar greats have covered a Dylan song at some point in their careers.... Hendrix-All Along The Watchtower, Eric Clapton-Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Don't Think Twice It's All Right, Love Minus Zero/No Limit, Johnny Winter - Highway 61 Revisited...etc...

Anyway I think Joe could probably find a song that fits him and could make a great cover of one...

A few songs that come to mind that I think would be good are...

Blind Willie McTell
Love Sick
Ballad of a Thin Man
One More Cup of Coffee

Nay for now.  I think Bob Dylan is the farthest thing from Joe's mine [spelling IS correct] right now.  I DO have a time, a place and a song I'll one day mention...in Glen Winfrey's famous "covers you'd like to hear Joe do" post, not this one.  wink  And not now.  Too much other good stuff to project!

Joe can take any song and make it his own. I think other people's interpretations of Dylan songs always work well.

Yeah "Desire" fully mentioned here and there are some truly stunning Dylan Lyrics Waxed there ..... Hurricane  - 

"Joey" ...... is a epic story to song and a real Italian/New York masterpiece

but if i thought one  Bob Dylan Song Joe could do it would be "Black Diamond Bay"

quirky story with humour and a twist and with a mention of Walter Kronkite too

that is a very cool cover...

I really like what Clapton did with Don't Think Twice It's All Right...

Mountain did a whole album of Dylan covers...Some are hits and some are misses.

I think Joe could do something really cool with Ballad of Thin Man with that descending chord progression and then the lyrics are just perfect.

Duke Robillard who has played with Dylan on Times out of Mind made a cover, too. I prefer the KWS version.

Isn't All Along the Watchtower a Dylan tune by Jimi?

wasn't Knocking on Heaven's Door a Dylan tune but made great by GnR?

Dylan made some  great songs.. he just can't play or sing them.. someone else should.

As far as covers go there is a whole thread dedicated to that topic.
But as mentioned earlier,when Joe does a cover he can make it his own and usually a "deep" track " is better than one overdone.
