Topic: finally...!

Hello everybody,

A quick message.

I'm Ben, 25, from London, UK. I have been a fan of Joes for about 8 years. I do prefer his earlier blues stuff-but I very much like that I never quite know what will be on the next album. I enjoyed B.C.C. a great deal and also like Joe's newest a lot, too.

I've only seen Joe live 4 times. From a hundred people venue to a 5000 people one!

I'm a big blues fan in general-I have played blues guitar for about 15 years-but I do like rock, jazz, folk as well.

As I have read comments on here for a couple of years I thought, "I really should join!" So I know many usernames on here already and I look forwards to taking part in some chats here!

Thanks.

Re: finally...!

Shame then that no one has bothered to welcome you in.

Maybe thats a forum penalty for lurking so long. But like any addict it takes time and courage to admit you have a problem. But you have taken the first step and 'alurkernomore' you are.

So in keeping with the spirit and values of our Bonaholics Bonhomie -

Fraternal Greetings from a fellow Londoner, now exiled these past 8 years in Northern Germany.

As you have been a fan these past 8 years yourself, bit pointless to regale you of albums you should buy and videos you should see. You have also hinted you know some of us by our forum names already which is clear and damning evidence of your long 'lurk'.

Therefore we shall expect, nay demand, that you play an active role on here to make up for the all time you have consumed our drivel without contributing. We like to think we are fair - but 'ard.

On a friendlier note you mention you are a player yourself. Currently active? In a band? writing/recording? See? Nosey B****** ain't we? Maybe lurking was better after all..........

Hello LurkernoMore and welcome!  I was a lurker for quite a while myself ... it's hard to figure out how and when to jump in with this bunch!  I'll look forward to hearing from you and when you're ready, let us hear some of your playing!

Come on in and join the bonamasses ... and remember, you can sign out but you can never leave!!  wink

Re: finally...!

Ok, we let you twist in the wind long enough. Welcome, you have a lot of company in the London area. Start looking in the other artist section for meetups with the many forum members there and keep those posts coming.

Re: finally...!

Thank you for all the welcome messages-always seemed a very friendly board.

hansamike-yes, maybe it is an addiction! Must have listened to Joe daily for years. Dreadfully geeky too so am always interested in trivia about his guitars and what not... I sound fun at a party, don't I...?!

Well north Germany is great for the blues, no? Germany and Holland seem to be its home in Europe.

Nope, not been in a band for a couple of years now, more settled as to where I am living now so will try and start one up, I still love guitars/blues jams.

SandyGirl-ha ha, yes, I realise it's a blood contract ;p. No matter how my musical tastes change or when I find "the next SRV" I still compare them with Joe and he always comes out top. Stuck with the addiction now.

Hi RickB, I'd not thought about meetups or what not, sounds fun. Seeing Joanne Shaw Taylor next week (I saw her first when we were both 13 and have been a fan ever since)-sure I'll see some Joe tshirts there!

Check the other artist section, specifically the London Gig Guide thread. Lots of friends waiting for a new face there. That's a very active gigging gaggle. I'm sure some will be at the JST show. Make yourself known, wear a Joetee and who knows...

Re: finally...!

RickB, thanks, I will do.

I'm seeing Joe in Holland later this year and also in London.

At the JST gig I have to go straight from work so fear being ostrasised due to being in a shirt ;p! I'll wear my geekdom on my sleeve no matter!

Hope to bump into fellow Bonamassa fans there.

Wear the tee as an undershirt! Strip off the outerwear and no one will have a clue.  tongue

Welcome ALNM! If you're seeing Joe in Holland you're either catching BCC at Bospop or attending one of the Carre shows in October - in either case, you're likely to meet up with a number of us from here. If you're going to the Carre make sure to look up the Carre topic in the top forum.  wink
