Topic: 1968 Hagstrom Viking II

Hi everybody,

I have fallen in love with this guitar (see topic name), I think it's great. The beauty of it is that it can get so bright but yet so round-sounding-kinda thing. It looks great and I've always wanted one. This guitar is kinda close to me, 'cause when I started playing guitar, I was about 6 years old, I played acoustic but that changed. My dad is a great Elvis fan and this one time he put the '68 comeback special dvd on. He said to me; take a listen to this, I think it sounds really great. I watched and Elvis brought out the Hagstrom guitar. He started playing 'Baby what do you want me to do' and that's when I knew what I really wanted. I was influenced by Elvis already, I basically grew up by it haha smile, but this had something special. And at an age of 11 or so I wanted a electric guitar. I was very hesitated to take an electric guitar due that I have had a left-ear-surgery a couple times. When I went to a shop and bought an electric guitar (well, actually my parents did. Thank you for that big_smile), I was thrilled to go back home. When I got home I didn't remember how the little amp worked I got too. It only had a gain and a volume control and a simulator for clean, overdrive (it was a little Roland amp). I put the volume on 2 just to start because I didn't want to burst out my eardrums, as I though back then. I heared nothing. I looked at the amp and didn't know what the gain-control does. So I put it on half. Well that was a big mistake. The volume was now on 1/4 and the gain on 1/2. And the simulator was set to classic rock.... whoopsie. The sound was far too loud and I wasn't happy the rest of the day. I didn't even knew if I would going further with this. But I took it to my guitar teacher and asked if he knew anything about it. He knew a little (he only plays acoustic) about it. And about a week later I was playing the only song I really knew (Baby what do you want me to do) for like 1,5 hours, haha. This guitar is so special to me, to take me to an influence-range I never knew, and after that I began to like AC/DC, after that other greats like BB King. and of course: JOE BONAMASSA! big_smile

I don't know why I turned this thread into a biography but the main question is; do you guys know where to find a original 1968 Hagstrom Viking II ? I've tried ebay and craigslist....
