Topic: Thank you class 5!

So I went to an open mic night last evening with my new class 5, a Les Paul and Tube screamer.  My uncle plays pedal steel & guitar in the "house band" so I usually go to see him.  We ripped through a 10 minute shred cover of 'Further on up the Road' and the guy who runs the open mic had the audacity to try and turn down my amp!  I yelled at him and shoved him, and needless to say afterward when I exchanged some choice words with him I was asked not to come back...  Everyone loved the song though and even the bartenders stopped bartending so they could watch and listen.  Thank you Marshall Class 5!

Haha! Epic! Turning your amp down mid shred? cheeky muppet, you should go back with a false beard and a 100w non master volume plexi.

Re: Thank you class 5!

A couple months ago I was playing a little gig and I asked the soundguy if he wanted to volume-up the solo's or I would do it myself with just the volume-knob on the guitar. So he said he would do it. I was like; ok, that's fine. When we started playing, everything was fine, when my solo came in, the soundguy did nothing. He was almost sleeping. And when my solo almost had ended, he turned up the volume, due to that my rhythm-section was far too loud. Stupidity completed...

When I play with my band, we do our own sound.  But I find it best to just use a compressor or some type of boost pedal so when we do from time to time have someone running sound, I know my leads will be up.  Thats the problem with some house sound guys, they might not know the songs or even care for that matter..

Re: Thank you class 5!

I am a sound guys worst nightmare!  If I got a boost pedal or a volume knob I'll turn it.  Most of the time its the volume on the guitar I'll leave at 6 or 7 and turn up to 10 for leads.  When I use pedals I tend to not be happy with my sounds so I'm constantly turning stuff to find the sweet spot.  I sold a bunch of pedals last year during Christmas for that reason alone I can't leave nothing alone and I'll miss out on playing time for tweaking stuff!  The only complaints I ever get is from our other guitarist that bought all the P.A. stuff for himself.  Oh well.

Phew that was tense at first.
Glad it turned out well at the end.

Ha I've seen that before.  Steve Jordan looks like he's trying his best not to laugh, and the piano player looks like he's going to beat both their asses if they don't shut up and get on with it!  The next video in that movie has Eric Clapton come out with a sunburst stratocaster and a rosewood fret board.  Honestly seemes to me Keith egged it on to begin with for telling him what to do with his amp, you can't tell him to do something and expect him not to act like a jerk.
