Topic: Can't say enough about Marshall

Hey,

So I bought a used Marshall Class 5 from the Long and Maquade store in Victoria BC last Saturday. It was a great price, $275 Cdn. out the door and it's in great shape, easily 9.5 out of 10. Only thing was the amp room was busy so I couldn't crank it in the store. It's an early one with the 1 piece back and some of them rattle.

I get it home and crank it and sure enough, it rattles and buzzes really bad. It's a 4 hour drive to return it so that's not going to happen. I go through the rattle fix statement that Marshall released and follow all the steps and it's better but still rattles as soon as you turn the volume past 12:00. So last night I fill out the tech support form on the Marshall UK web site. This morning I get an email from a Canadian rep. After another email to confirm my purchase receipt and serial number, I got confirmation that they're sending me a new 3 piece back.

That's service!!!! Nice to see a company stand behind their product.

Re: Can't say enough about Marshall

Thats good to hear.  Glad you don't have to send it out somewhere and play the waiting game!

Re: Can't say enough about Marshall

That's just fixing faults...faults that shouldn't be happening in the first place..  hmm

Re: Can't say enough about Marshall

Really Dave? And I recall that guitars like Joe's '59 didn't sell worth a crap and Gibson considered the Les Paul a failure. Guess they should have fixed those too.

Too me that is excellent service from a company that stands behind their product! And if Joe would like to give me that failure of a guitar........... roll

Nothin' but the Blues

early ones are always going to have issues... no matter what the product is.

Agreed! The early ones (anything) usually have some issues. Combo amps by nature are more susceptible to noise and in this case it's a whole lot of amp in a small package. As well they designed it to fit into a price point and the more you start beefing up this or that...soon you'll have an $800, 5 watt amp.

I guess my original point was that I'm impressed that I didn't have to fight to get it addressed. I bought this amp used and likely any original warranty is null and void or long expired. Still they covered it! I don't have to send the amp away to an authorized service center. Most of all I like the quick response. In less than 24 hours from my first inquiry on the Marshall tech support form I have confirmation that a new 3 piece back is on the way. Ya gotta like that. big_smile

Re: Can't say enough about Marshall

I agree that there shouldn't be problems to begin with, however I think the OP was complimenting Marshall on their customer service.

Re: Can't say enough about Marshall

Noted. Bravo to Marshall for standing by their product!
