Re: Buying a Jubilee

Your 2553 looks just like mine! I have never seen the Black with Silver faceplate either but I have heard about it. I have never seen another black Jub other than mine in person but have see a lot of pics.

Re: Buying a Jubilee

they're both 2555's

Re: Buying a Jubilee

I didn't think the 2555 came in the small box? I though only the 2553 was the small box.

Re: Buying a Jubilee

Classic 30 is a great amp. Whats up with the speaker cab underneath? there's wood that goes across the speaker. What brand is that? Is the function for bracing strength or sound???  hmm

Re: Buying a Jubilee

The black 88 2555's are not small boxes. Where did that idea come from?

That's the difference in depth in the picture.....

Re: Buying a Jubilee

The Speaker cab was built in the 60's I am thinking by a local shop in Pittsburgh, but it has no markings on it for me to tell. Sadly the speakers where junk so there are some low end eminence I pulled from an old amp in there but its not finished. For some reason I am getting 11 total Ohms and I don't want to hook it up to an amp because none of the amps are 11 ohms. My goal is to use the cab with the 68 Bassman that is covered there.

I have no idea why the wood is cut like that for the speakers.

Re: Buying a Jubilee

Spider, it must be the angle of the pic the top one looked smaller to me like my 2553.

Here is a 2555 (black '88) vs. a 2553 (small box jubilee 50W)

Whats the letter prefix on the serial number of your black 88?

Gotta run. Wife's birthday and I promised......... to be a good husband!

Re: Buying a Jubilee

This one has a "W" prefix.  I also have one with an "X" which I believe is an '89.   The 2553 is all numbers without any prefix.....
