I have a dumb question. (Page 2 of 2)

Go to guitar center and ask them if you can try the amp with a reverb pedal before you buy it.  They can set you up in a room at most places and let you crank the thing up loud.  I've done this before and its worked great with buying pedals.

Well I bought a Class 5 today.  Using a TS808 out front into a mild/subtle delay and a slight bit of reverb sounds great as long as you don't go past half on the amps volume.  So for the record: If you crank the amp up too much past 1/2 way with a reverb in front, either with or without an OD pedal it doesn't matter, it sounded like $hit!

I was originally wanting to wait and get a head version, but the more I thought about it, I didn't see the point in having a head thats only 5 watts.  Kinda defeats the purpose if you want it for small gigs because you still would have to lug a cab of some sort along with it.  Anyway, I'm more than pleased with it.

Thanks man!  Volume Half way has some breakup, but it seems to be at least clean enough for my reverb pedal to mesh nicely.  I actually had my Tube Screamer out front into my line 6 M9. I just used a slight delay of 4 Very subtle repeats and a touch of plate reverb from the M9.  I keep the delays very low so you don't really hear them until you stop playing.  It kinda extends the little smidge of reverb without having an over powering reverb decay.  A tube screamer into a reverb into a dirty, cranked up Class 5 sounded awful!  I'm getting a very warm Bonamassa style tone like on the new album with the above mentioned setup.

It's nice through a 4x12 but truth be told, I kinda like the 10 incher it came with.  My Egnater 15 watt has a little more balls and is better suited for tiny gigs.  It has a Much better bottom end tone which the class 5 lacks.  But not much you can do with that since it is only 5 watts..  I'm more than content with the class 5 as a home use toy or maybe an open mic night like NPB uses his blues junior for.
