Topic: Gator by the Bay

A Cajun/Zydeco/Blues & Crawfish festival in San Diego on Mothers Day weekend.

Susan and I attended last year on the Saturday of the event and had an absolute blast.  Great Cajun food, Great Cajun Music and some Great Blues.  Looking forward to seeing Elvin Bishop play at this years event along with his old guitarist Johnny Vernazza.  We saw Johnny play last year and really enjoyed it.  Also due up is Bill McGee, a San Diego local blues guitarist with roots to Jimmy Hendrix. 

For those familiar with the area, it's at the Spanish Landing park right near the airport.  Saturday's event sold out last year and I'm sure it will again this year.

I believe we'll see you there.  smile I would have gone last year but a road trip for business put paid to my plans. Elvin Bishop is always worth seeing. Looking forward to a bucket of mudbugs and a cold brew! Just checked the lineup. Sue Palmer, another local, is great! Saturday it is!

Johnny V. played with the late great Norton Buffalo and continues to play with Norton's band known as Norton's Knockouts. Mmmmmm!!!, love dem mudbugs myself with some dirty Cajun comeback rice and cornbread with honey butter. That's some good eats.

Thanks Rick.  Elvin still has it and I just love his ES345.  And I might be able to make an argument that Johnny V should be listed in the under rated guitarest thread.  The guy's a damn good player.

Think I gotta whip up some jambalaya at least for dinner. I can't believe mudbugs aren't more readily available here, after all the Isleton area just up river from me is one of the largest crawdad producers in the world. I understand they export most of the local product. Gotta see when the Crawdad Fest is happening in Isleton, I think it's this month.
