Re: Dunlop Uni-Vibe

I don't know what happened, but half of my post got deleted.  As I was saying...

Honestly, I don't know which version I have.  It looks like this:  http://www.zzounds.com/item--DNPUV1

But, it must be an older version because it doesn't have the "vintage" switch, shown here:  http://www.thesoundodyssey.com/images/p … 222483.jpg

Either way, here's my dilemma...  I remember this pedal sounding really sweet a few years ago, really nailing the "Machine Gun" tone.  I recently saved it from my brother's house, where it was collecting dust, and it has soooo much hum that it's simply unusable.  Also, this might be my memory tricking me, but I feel like it had more oomph to the "intensity" knob and more speed on the "speed" knob, if that makes sense.  My main guess right now is that it's my adapter.  Anybody have any experience with these or other vibes having hum problems?

Re: Dunlop Uni-Vibe

Sorry I can't be of any help....but if it ends up not working for you, take a look into the Danelectro Cool Cat vibe. I'm a huge guy on vibe and it nails all the Hendrix/Trower stuff perfectly.

Re: Dunlop Uni-Vibe

Hi Drew
Sounds like the light or the photo resistor inside could be damaged or there is dirt or dust between the two.
The hum could be from a faulty or dry cap.
I have never pulled one apart so I am only guessing.
You might have to get a tech to look at it or buy a new one.

Re: Dunlop Uni-Vibe

I hear this a lot with the Dunlop 'vibes.  They sound good for a little while, but suck tone and break down eventually.  I use a Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe and it's the best vibe I've ever heard.  People will argue this, but I've never heard a 'vibe that sounds more vintage-correct to my ears.  You can get them at any GC and there are plenty of used ones for less $$$.  Ditch the Dunlop and pick yourself up a Fulltone, if only for the true bypass and reliability...

Re: Dunlop Uni-Vibe

I have been craving some type of vibe for awhile now, but don't know if I would use it enough to justify it.  I am mainly looking at the Fulltone mini Deja Vibe, but am also considering the Lovepedal Purple Pickle Vibe.  Anyone have any experience with the Pickle Vibe, and do you Vibe owners find that you use your vibe pedals a lot?

Re: Dunlop Uni-Vibe

I bought my vibe a year ago just for a song or two...and now I find I really like kicking it on for solos. Once you've found a vibe that works for you, you'll end up using it a lot. I kick it on for 3/4 of the solos in my set now

I love my Deja Vibe and use it all of the time.  I highly recommend it!

Is the mini deja vibe the pedal style or the box?  Do you run it throught the loop or out front?
