Topic: A NEW Marshall Blues Breaker Pedal Clone - feedback please!

Hey everyone - I'm new here - my intro is in the intro forum though. Happy to be a part of the board.

So I spent the last few months reverse-engineering a clone of the infamous Marshall Blues Breaker pedal. None of the kits or boutique pedals that I could find sounded right to me, and one day I was able to snag an authentic marshall pedal at a good price, and so I cloned it. (BTW, having done so, I can tell you that the two popular kits for this are not accurate!)

It was a lot of work. Measuring component values, tracing the connections, redoing the layout, creating a PCB image, sourcing parts, testing, etc etc etc.

Anyway, I knew I wasn't the only one who was looking for an authentic recreation of this pedal, so after all the work was done I figured I would sell them to anyone interested.

You can check the pedal out (with professional sound clips) at: www.bluesbreakerclone.com

I would really appreciate if you'd check out the sound clips and let me know what you think about the pedal. Thanks!

Anyone listened to the sound clips? Wondering what everyone thinks of the tone. Thanks!

It's a fair price, and sounds pretty good, but to be honest it's a little too subtle for my taste.  It's really cool though that you have the skill and ability to build custom gear.  Hopefully you'll be able to add more products as time goes by and maybe see something of yours on a pedalboard of someone famous!

Yes, it is very subtle. Breaks up more with humbuckers obviously, but it isn't high-gain by any means. It's really for that John Mayer thick strat tone, or a little more when you need it.

Thanks for the nice words. It's been a fun project, and I've already created a "second version" if you will with about 50% more gain, and a different OD flavor due to a different diode structure. It's kind of the "next step" on the gain path, but it still isn't super heavy.

As for someone famous using a pedal I built - well, that would be fantastic!
