Topic: P.A.U.L

Two weeks ago I went to see Joanne Shaw Taylor for the first time live in Rheinberg. See interview and review on www.bluesmagazine.nl. Supporting band was P.A.U.L, a bluesrock band from Detroit. They were Joanne accompanyband as well.
I liked their music a lot, not standard blues or bluesrock but they really have their own style. Their Cd's Hangin'On For Dear Life (2007) and Gunshot Lullaby (2009) are worth listening!!

Tonight they play in  t'Kaatje in Oss Holland and I will do an interview with them.

Let you know how it was. Anyone from the forum knows the band too?

Yes i have seen them open for Joanne in Detroit as well.......and they are usually her bassist and drummer as well.  Pretty good............another great Detroit area blues band is THE BROKEN ARROW BLUES BAND!  Fantastic live band...........lotta good bands outta the Detroit area.

They played a few dates in the UK last year Andre, but I didn't get the chance to go. I will be catching them a couple of times next month though, as they are opening for Joanne on her UK tour. I've heard lots of good things about them, and Joanne tells me Layla (who is Joanne's regular US drummer too) is a real powerhouse drummer.

Paul Lamb (plays bass when supporting Joanne) is a fine guitar player in his own right. Ditto on Layla, she can give those skins a good thumpin!  big_smile

Wonderful band paul, layla and Joey are awesome, been seeing them regularly in the Uk for the last 3 years. Also supportingf and playing with JST , they are also playing Hebden Bridge Blues Festival in the UK at end of May Holiday Weekend.
