Topic: BONAMETAL - AT LAST!!!

My 1000th post. Wow!

Well, It was almost 5 years ago when Ken and I, while on vacation, happened to walk into a little club called "The Newport Blues Cafe" in Newport, Rhode Island to get a bite to eat and check out this guy named "Joe Bonamassa".  Ken is a guitarist and had heard of him.  Not me. I had no idea what I was in for. At that time, the band was "Joe Bonamassa, Mark Esptein (bass) and Bogie Bowles (drums).

Boy, What a surprise! I have been to many concerts in my life, but no band had ever moved me the way this power trio did that night. There was a musical awakening that I had not felt in years. I told Ken when we left, I wanted to see him again so... 3 months later we saw them again in Jacksonville, FL.  That's where the journey began.  Now, it's 5 years,  almost 20 shows later and we're still hooked.

This forum has guided me to music I would never have known about.  The people I've met and the experiences I've had because of it, I wouldn't trade for the world.

Thanks to Joe, forum members, and all involved for making and keeping this forum such a great place to visit.

I'm so glad we walked into that little Blues club in Newport, Rhode Island 5 years ago.   wink

Re: BONAMETAL - AT LAST!!!

Congratulations on reaching Bonametaldom, Susan. You're one of the exclusive band of forum members that have been fortunate to see Joe in a small club and, percentage wise, our number is getting smaller as the forum gets bigger.

I fully agree with your sentiments regarding the Forum. It's just the Best.  cool

Congrats Susan. Quality not quantity is appreciated. At your current pace you will be SuperBonametal 10,000 in about 45 years.  big_smile

Re: BONAMETAL - AT LAST!!!

High five Susan, way to go!  big_smile  Congratulations!!  cool

I think we can all agree that fate led you to that club...I'm also one of the lucky ones to have seen Joe 'small-time', though none of us will have seen him in such a small venue as Jim must have done....as we've shared Joe's growth in fame, so we all share increasing numbers of posts which, eventually, lead to Bonametaldom and to Rocket sending you a 'Bonabah'.  lol

Seriously Susan, your posts are always a pleasure to read and you indeed offer this forum quality over quantity. Keep 'em coming and make sure Ken stays hydrated in the sun.  tongue

Congrats Susan!! I like the small club thing. Think I'll go to JBXP and start a small club club!

Re: BONAMETAL - AT LAST!!!

Congratulations Susan - your posts are always a pleasure to read.  I, too, was lucky enough to see Joe at the Newport Blues Cafe (I think it must have been the year after you because Rick and Carmine were with him then), and it was probably one of the last times he played in such a small place.  It was awesome - Dave was passing guitars right over our heads all night.  Miss those days a lot.

Maybe one of these days we'll actually get to the same show where we will get a chance to chat, and give me a call if you head up to New England again. (Derek and Susan are playing in Boston in August and Grace Potter at the same venue 3 days later - hint, hint).

Congrats again.

Sandy

Re: BONAMETAL - AT LAST!!!

Well done Susan and it was a pleasure to meet you & Ken in San Luis Obispo in another small club setting. Don't know if I ever told you, but 24 hours later I was in Sparks, Nev. for another show and ran into some rowdy characters in the parking lot as we got there......Shreddy & co. Two great hook ups in 24 hours thanks to Forum connections. Keep on keepin' us informed from the right coast.

Hey Bonametal Susan!!!  Way to go.  Certainly enjoy your contribution to the forum.  I think it was in Feb. 07 that I first met you and Ken in Jacksonville, but seems that we keep running into each other!  Look forward to seeing you guys in the future...

Re: BONAMETAL - AT LAST!!!

It's ironic Susan, we didn't cross paths, after being at nearby different northeast shows that second week in July 2006 (added irony I couldn't make a to fer that week  yikes ), until the Crossroads Guitar Festival this last year, and ironic I tapped you on the shoulder to get Cathy's attention for me there before I noticed your Joe Bonamssa Vintage T shirt, only to discover it was you & Ken finally!  big_smile
