Topic: New Rig Month!

So it's been a crazy month or two for me gear wise. I'm pretty much setting up a whole new rig for myself. Almost my dream rig. cool  I still have a few pieces to get, but I'm getting there, and my rig is very different from what it used to be. Going with the JoeB/EricJ style setup that really allows a multitude of sounds to be had.

I will add the HRM50 and a RJM Effects Gizmo & Mastermind this summer.

So with that, onto the pictures detailing everything.

So first thing that arrived was a Ceriatone 2550. I will run this along side a Ceriatone HRM50.

This is what she looks like inside. Came with JJ's in perfect bias. Who knew a budget hand-wired PTP (turreted) amp company in Malaysia would do that? Not I.

Tasty wiring eh?

Next I ditched my Avatar 412 and found a cheap beat up Avatar 212 at a pawnshop.

Then I took out the Eminence Tonespotters, and put in some Ted Weber Michigans (Ceramics, 100 watt rating, EV style speaker).

Then I decided since I'll be running two 50 watt amps through one 212, I need to rewire is in stereo/mono. I drilled a few more holes into the Avatar backplate. 16 ohms in mono (both speakers) and 8 ohms each side in stereo.

Here's the rig, minus some things..

Oh, then I got a custom Klon(e) pedal from a buddy of mine who builds pedals in his spare time.
http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn38 … G_5763.jpg

Pedalboard. Still need a fuzz. Maybe a Fulltone 70. Eventually I'm getting the pedals in a rack switched with a RJM Effects Gizmo and Mastermind.
http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn38 … G_5774.jpg

Then I found a mint (guy only took it out once) X2 Rack Wireless, and bought it. Made a new cable for it with a 1/8" locking pin, a Neutrik Silent plug, and Mogami cable.

The start of the rack where the pedals will go.

The amp and cab. Using an Auralex Great GRAMMA ala Joe.

Here is my new Tele which is arriving this week. It's by a custom builder, who relics and ages the guitars to look old. Going to get a Strat, LP, and a double bound Tele with a P90 in the neck this summer if all goes well. Will be a nice step up from my current low budget guitars, and I will need a very 'unbreakable' rig, as me and my blues band are playing weekly as a house band, and touring the area around our town.

Nice! Congrats!

Keep rocking:-)

Re: New Rig Month!

Nice tele!  I'm not a tele guy, but I do like the plain blonde ones that are dirty and beat up.  I too was just thinking about re-rigging today out of boredom really!

Stratpaulguy has one of those Gizmo Mastermids if you look up his youtube videos, he has a demo on it.  Nice job with everything, can't wait to see it all set up in "ready mode".  Keep the pictures coming when you can.  -Seth

That's where I got the idea for the RJM stuff. It really is exactly what I'm looking for!

Stratpaulguy86 has loads of knowledge and great gear (as well as playing).  cool

I have an Epi Les Paul, but it is not cutting the cake as far as tones go. I'm most likely going to have the guy that built my Tele build me a Les Paul shape too. Custom wound pickups, vintage vibe.  cool

Re: New Rig Month!

I'm sorry but this has to be a guitar players wet dream.  This seriously looks like a killer rig.  I'm a Fender guy and that Tele is exactly the kind of think that I lay awake at night thinking about.  What I really like is you picked quality gear but if you had bought all this stuff from the name brands out there like Fender, Marshall, you would have blown a ton of money on your rig and guitar and had nothing else on the side like the pedal or the wireless.  I'm a big fan of the Luther Drive too.

I agree! My dream standard Tele. My other Tele from him will be lake placid blue, double cream bound, rosewood board, P90 in the neck.  cool

Rest assured better pictures of this guitar on it's arrival. The builder just texted me that picture this last week before he took it and 30 some other guitars to the Dallas Guitar Show.

Re: New Rig Month!

Nicely done shopping spree!!    I just got a Klon Centaur clone pedal too, loving it! cool

Re: New Rig Month!

Which one the Gold or the Silver???  I heard the Gold is supposed to be the standard for all overdrive pedals, but the silver doesn't sound bad either.  Both out of my reach.

Re: New Rig Month!

Can you hear a difference with and without the Auralex? I might have to get one. hmm

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

The difference is something that I enjoy. The bottom end is not so flabby and muddy. My settings remain more consistent no matter where I play, or what kind of surface my amp is on. There is more clarity in the sound, and what you hear is amp and cabinet. No floor vibrations, coupling, etc.

One of the best purchases for $79 that has done the most to improve my sound.
