That user name has been in use since 2006.

Re: pre 1964 strat

Re: pre 1964 strat

I am so glad the real Joe could set this straight.

Re: pre 1964 strat

If he really got an offer for $41K, he was crazy not to have taken it and run as  fast as he could.  No '64 strat is worth that regardless of the condition - '50s, yes.  It's the bigger fool principle.

Guitars: '79 LP Custom, '01 Dickey Betts Goldie - 80 of 114, '00 Chandler Lectraslide
Amps: '00 Marshall 1987x, '70 Marshall 1959 SL, 4x12 JBL D120s
'64 Vibroverb - JBL D130, '66 Super Reverb - CTS Alnicos
'77 Peavey Deuce (great for melting stubborn ear wax)

Re: pre 1964 strat

yes, joe has posted under both....

I got the urge to look up 64 Corvettes now!
I used to have the model of that same car.

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Re: pre 1964 strat

Beardo,
First of all,  there is a place for selling guitars... Ebay, Gbase, craiglist, guitar show, my shows LOL..  This forum is not a place for that..  Second.. 41,000 for a 64 stratocaster is unheard of in the post Bernie Madoff era..  I know of one 64 strat that is worth in that range and it belongs to a friend of mine in New York..  By the way did I mention he opened the orginial shipping box and it came with the matching Bandmaster amp still in the box.. Essentially it is brand new guitar..  A fair price for that guitar that you are speaking of would be around 20,000 dollars if you had to have it... I think Fender guitars especially have not bottomed out yet..  None of it has judging by the reports I got from Dallas over the weekend.  Good luck with it..  Wish it was a 1964 Corvette with a split window.. That I d give you 41,000... If it had the 427 engine..   cool

I thought it was a 63 that had the split rear window?

That is correct ('63)...one year only.

Re: pre 1964 strat

Sad Corvette story, My Father had a 53 Corvette that he was restoring in our garage but decied to sell it when I was born because they need the extra money. It was the mid 70's so he sold it for next to nothing. I have told him many times if he would of keep that car it would of paid for mine and my sisters education. Live and learn I guess. Wish I would of at least got to see it.

Re: pre 1964 strat

I know we've gone off topic but my hot rod back in the day was a 69 Roadrunner Super Bee 440 6-pack. I paid 2 grand for it in 74. My Dad was pissed but figured it was better than a motorcycle. Two years later I had another 69. A chopped 69 Harley.  lol  I sure wish I still had the car. The value of them now is through the proverbial roof!!!!

Re: pre 1964 strat

once again joe b., sorry for the confusion  we just felt this guitar should be used or "played,' instead of hanging" IT" on a collectors wall ----thats what it was was meant for----wernt sure what your interest was personnaly---or your associates---i apologise totally---thanks much------keep playing--its soooooooo goood!!!!!!!!

Re: pre 1964 strat

I sold my '63 Strat about 4-5 years ago and got $29,000.. One of the few times in my life that timing was on my side, actually! tongue   I like the ones I have now, much better, BTW. big_smile
