Now THAT's what I call THINKING!!  big_smile

Market value is $5500 to $6500. Add the JB pedigree in reality it should fetch 10K. But then again were talking about a fleabay auction, not a EC auction at Bonhams. I guesstimate it'll sell for around $7500-$8000. 33 bids so far and it's at $5600. The real action will happen in the final seconds of the auction.

Yes, I agree with your estimate of $7500-8000.  My personal spend ceiling would have to be around $6000-7000.  I am suspecting that a last minute eBay frenzy might push it up to $9000-10000 in the final seconds.

Is this being offered by the same guy Joe did his once and never again Ebait exp-eerie-ends with?  Think so.  I could feel the trauma in Joe's printed words...I wouldn't...Nice, but it's not the only one in the world...one of these days guitar "investors", will have lots of "see" stories to tell that will be worth more than their "investment".  Play it don't display it...or do whatcha like anyway you want, I don't care....sort of.  I don't think Joe will chime in on this....could be pleasantly wrong....

Market value is closer to $12K on these...2011 VGG lists them at $11K-$13.6K.

And I think Joe's infamous eBay experience was buying his '72 ES-355.

I love VG mag but the VG guide prices are always inflated and usually unrealistic from the street price. Those prices are what you'd expect at a high end music store for a under the bed nearly NOS guitar.

So... is it really Joe's guitar? Is the seller trusted person?   smile

Yeah, definitely Joe's. Feedback looks extremely positive...Holy Grail is a reputable dealer -- www.hgguitars.com is their site. I wonder how much it's gonna jump up 10 minutes before the auction ends!

Re: Joe Bonamassa's '68 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop on eBay

Maybe Joe can chime in?

I wish he would too, but he probably won't as that could be seen to be throwing 'blood into the water' so to speak, when the last minute eBay bidding frenzy starts shortly... smile

I meant, maybe he could chime in to show proof, that this guitar was really his guitar.

That's what I meant too.  If Joe were to chime in now with confirmation or a backstory to the guitar, it could cause a spike in interest in the guitar at the last minute, which I believe might be against eBay's "spruiking" policy.  In addition, Joe has previously made comments on here about this [type of] guitar before which may have negative repercussions for the auction...

Also, for Joe to confirm it on a third party site after the sale had gone live would cast some aspersion against the seller's integrity at the outset.  Far more professional I think for Joe to stay silent about it until after the auction completes.

Re: Joe Bonamassa's '68 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop on eBay

Hey guys,
It is indeed my old 68...  After a long time with it I decided it may be time to let it go to a better home.. I traded it back in Feb for a couple of killer guitars that I am playing at the moment.. Its the Les Paul I used on "A New Day Yesterday" both the album and the song..Its a really strong guitar and I loved it for a long time but honestly with the 59 its hard to play anything else.. So I hope it finds a good new home.  I am happy with the 295 and red 355..  I look forward to giving them a loving welcome to the flock..

So, I assume it is the same guitar that Joe used on this Youtube clip with Bogert & Appice?  smile
