Wow. Is this ACTUALLY one of Joe's guitars? Hope he can chime in here and confirm that.
Looks like it used to have a Bigsby on it? Wonder if Joe replaced that or someone else did?
EDIT: Doh! Just re-read the specs - it used to have a trapeze...not a Bigsby...
A '68 Goldtop with Joe's actual blood, sweat and tears...maybe we could clone him?
We should run a book on how much it will eventually go for.
I could safely place a bid on it right now at $5K+ confident that I wouldn't have to pay-up, but at least I could say I've bid on one of JB's guitars.
I can't believe that it's as old as I am, and looks in waaay better condition. Someone is going to be very happy.
Damn my penniless status.
stupid question #28.
Why the hell did someone put a trapese tailpiece on a '68 reissue?
Nice guitar!
I would LOVE to throw a bid on this guitar, but I'd rather save up for a 83 Korina Flying V.
It WOULD be nice to have an old P90's gold top though.
I think I know what the market value is. This is of course without the pedigree. However once you add in that Joe owned the guitar (documented) and for fact (again documented) that it was used for A new Day Yesterday, then you can throw that estimate out the freakin' window! This guitar could fetch a very nice price.
I just hope it goes to somebody who will play it and not just display it!
I'd think it would fetch upwards of $10K at least with that provenance. Goldie had cachet and was in a major auction with a lot of press, a collectors item. This is a player.
Rick
I agree I was thinking it would go north of $8k for sure. On killer vintage's website they have an old Fender amp Joe used to own. Stuff if out there if you wanna pay.

Goldie was, is a player too. I just don't want to see either hanging in some rich mofo's music room.
Well, I'm no rich mofo, and i can't play for s**t, but I may bid on it anyway for investment purposes.
Bid to win then. It'll look cool and the wall.
Spider, even us non players love guitars too.
Jim, geez man.. I know. So do you. And I know they're appreciated. But. It's a tool. It's meant to be used. I ain't gonna buy a fricking full set of Craftsman tools to just take up wall space in my garage. Or have a chromed out Harley I don't ride.......
whatever.... to each their own. fair enough. But I'd rather... never mind.
Well, in less than 1 full day of a 7 day auction, the price is already at $5,200. I'll stay in for a while longer and see where this goes over the next few days, but at this pace, it will be well beyond my ceiling.
All I know is if I win it, I will have it hanging up on the wall behind where I sit at my desk...
And I will play it pretty much every day, and add a few more dings on it when I take it out to the odd blues jam...
...then I would hand it over to my sons when I cannot play it anymore myself...
However I too think that the end price will be around the $10K mark which will be a stretch...

Not if we pool our money and share
