Topic: Favorite chords

Hi,

I was cuddling with one of my guitars today, and playing lots of chords. I realized that it's years since I learned a new chord and why not ask this lovely community!?

So, what's your favorite chord? What chord is the first you play when trying a new guitar with a clean sound? Do you have any super-cool-out-of-this-world-super-stretching-chords that you love? A simple blues chord? Fancy jazz chords (please!)....

As an easy start, I throw in my trusty Em7add9. Personally I love everything with a 9 or 13 in it....

And yours would be .....? Show us some juicy stuff:-)

Havent studied my chord names for a while I think it is Edom7

I refer to it as the Randy Rhodes chord ( Diary of a madman)
But it just sounds so haunting. Learn the beginning to diary to get the full benefit of using it with other chords though.

Whenever I plug a new guitar into a loud amp with some crunch, I always for the plain old, simple old 'Angus' G5 chord...as LOUD as possible, and hold it!  cool

Re: Favorite chords

Something I use a lot rather than just 'power-chords', is to just 'add' a 9th to the 5th chord?

E---X
B---7
G---4
D---X
A---7
E---X

Even when not playing the 9th, That's pretty much how I play my power chords  lol I just prefer the 'look' of it, so I'll be playing the root on the A with my 3rd finger, and my 1st finger plays the fifth of the chord on the G string (then obviously the 9th is left for the pinky)  smile

Nice! Love that kind of chords too! It's the brother of this one I guess:

E---7
B---5
G---x
D---7
A---x
E---X

Same fingering as yours, but not as stretchy....

Keep'em coming!

Re: Favorite chords

Simple One:

E----X
B----7
G----6
D----5
A----X - could use, but I always use thumb for A note on low E string for more bass response
E----5

YES! And then a D5 / 2nd fret, throw in a A5 / 2nd fret and some muted stabs and roll into "Problem Child".

Simple & Brilliant......Rock n' Roll!!!
