Topic: Tampa Bay Blues Fest anyone ?

Just seeing if any of the forum faithful are going  to the Tampa Bay Blues Fest this weekend. Heading to Fl on Saturday to take in that day's festivities and a possibility to go on Sunday too. Will be spending the week down there to get away from the northeast. This will be the 3rd year in a row for my girlriend and I. They do  fantastic job with this festival every year. Hope to see some of you there...Larry G

Hi Larry, as a matter of fact, I'm heading down to the fest too, from Baltimore.  Unfortunately, the friend I'm staying with now has to work Fri and Sun so I'm gonna be solo for most of those days.  If you see a short blond walking around and sitting alone, it might be me.  I haven't been in a few years, any suggestions for good sight lines?

Re: Tampa Bay Blues Fest anyone ?

We'll be driving over from, Orlando.  Wouldn't miss it.  We go every year.  This year, only Saturday because we'll be heading up to Live Oak for the Wanee Festival the following Thursday.  But you're right.  They really know how to put a  festival together and you couldn't ask for a more beautiful location.   Especially looking forward to hearing Tommy Castro and Jonny Lang.

Wish we could make Sunday, but just can't swing it this year.  If you go on Sunday, get there early enough to hear Eric Lindell.  I think he's great and a really nice guy too.

If you see a couple wearing Joe Bonamassa shirts, it's probably us.  Stop us and say Hi.

Have fun. smile

Cherri and Susan, hope to run into you !  Cherri, guess  if you get there early you shouldn't have a problem getting a prime spot close to the stage. Be forewarned, what seems like lots of room around you all of a gets gobbled up quickly. I have found that people are very good about watching your tuff if you want to find a place in the shade for a while. My girlfriend, also Susan, and I usually bring our folding chairs and a blanket. We use the blanket to save our spot with our stage view when we move to the waterfront and get some cool breezes to chill off for a while. I will have a Joe B shirt on for a while, it was so hot the past few years I needed a couple changes though !! I hope they have a good showing this year, attendance didn't seem that great last year. Have a fun day !! Larry G

Re: Tampa Bay Blues Fest anyone ?

Thanks Larry, and Susan.  I'll keep an eye out for the Joe B shirts and hope to run into you.  It's looking like it'll be pretty warm, so I placked tank top/sleeveless shirts, so no distinguishing tees to point out.  I was planning on the blanket and chair, hoping, as you indicated, that it won't get messed with during breaks.  I went to the Bayou Boogaloo in Norfolk a few years ago and it was SWELTERING, they had a few misting tents, but you had to move around/seek shade so I roamed like a gypsy there, fortunately there were several stages, not just one, but it was a drag lugging a chair around.  Eric L is awesome, seen him many times, Tab Benoit too, and I'm looking forward to the whole NOLA vibe on Sunday.  It'll be my first live taste of Trombone Shorty.  Tommy Castro and Jonny are definite highlights as well.  It's a really full line-up this year.

Safe travels, hope to meet up with you.

From the looks of the forecast it is going to be perfect weather. Lots of sunscreen in tow, don't want to end up looking like a lobster on this untanned skin.
