Boy, I'm glad I didn't dilly-dally too long with getting tickets - didn't know it'd sell out.  It's a farily small place but should be rockin' big-time with Grace & the Nocs....looking forward to it.

Re: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

George, time for a US trip! GPN will be at Mountain Jam in Hunter, NY (Catskills) first weekend in June I believe. Headliner as always is Gov't Mule (as this is Warren's baby). Book early if you want a campsite.

Thanks for the heads-up, Tom. I would dearly love to, but in all honesty I can't see myself persuading her in the woods into such a long (and expensive) road trip, especially when she's not exactly as Grace ga-ga as I am.  neutral  I think it would be something like a six hour drive for us.

I will definitely be over for the Chesapeake Bay Fest (Dana Fuchs and Little Feat) on May 21-22, because we have been treated to VIP tickets  cool  and I'll probably stay for the Western Maryland in Hagerstown, which is on the same days as Mountain Jam. I'll broach the subject, but I ain't holdin' my breath....

I'll be in A'dam arriving noonish 9 May heading to Limburg for the Whisky Festival that Thursday (12th). Appreciate a heads up on any gigs during my short visit. Maybe meet up with you at that Burger king again?  lol

Wouldn't miss you for the world, Tom!  wink

Let me know exactly how long you'll be in town here with regard to potential local shows. We can probably do better than the BK.  big_smile

George:  Last time I went to see her, she didn't even come out after the show for any sort of M&G, chatted briefly with one or two of the band members (don't recall who, exactly) and they said she wasn't coming out sad

First few times I was able to say hello and get a pic or two.  Maybe she was just tired....here's hoping.

Anyone need a ticket for tonight?  I've had a last-minute cancellation and have an extra.  If you're interested and local, please call my cell at (deleted per the great editor).

Not even the SST would get me there.....but, I just called Cathy and asked her to call Bob and tell him about this post. I suggest you remove your cell number as soon as you've heard from him!  wink

And Carl, please be so kind and ask anyone you can find if there are any Europe plans at all?

George:  Actually, I had already called Bob before I posted this, who said he had been unable to purchase a ticket and therefore was committed to the four-letter word (w-o-r-k) but that you would love to have it, though unable to make the show unless a Star Trek transporter was available.

I was able to make a lovely young lady happy by selling her my ticket standing in line, so all's well.

As far as the show....all I can say is "WOW"!!!!   This is about my 7th or 8th time seeing Grace and the show, like Joe's, keeps getting more impressive.   The "new" band is as tight as a drum and pours electricity into every song.  Considering the vocal histrionics that Grace employs, I'd think she'd burn out her voice but it seems like it's getting better and better.  As this was the last show of a long tour, they really pulled all the stops out.

Unfortunately for me, as I was fighting a cold and didn't have the energy to stand for 4 hours, I managed to find a "seat" on an upstairs tiered stair but in a place where even standing, I couldn't see Grace at the keys, but could see her when she took center stage with vocal mic alone or guitar.  I did move later in the show and was able to see a little better between heads (I'm vertically challenged:(  )

George:  As indicated above, since I was under the weather, I didn't stick around after the show to chat with anyone so have no info as to plans for visiting Europe.   As she tours the US maniacally, shouldn't be too hard to schedule a show to coincide with a trip to the Maryland woods.   Good luck!

Once again, don't miss an opportunity to see this amazing performer and her band.

Shame that Bob couldn't make it and about you being under the weather, Carl. Thanks for the impression anyway. One of these days it'll be my turn......

Re: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

You're slipping, George - I had to go to page two to find this!

Saw these guys again last night.  Great show, the energy level is incredible, and Benny Yurco makes me dizzy.  First time seeing Cat - she was not with the band when I saw them in December due to illness - and she adds another dimension to the show.  She is absolutely beautiful, and an excellent bassist.

I talked to the guy working the merch table - as of right now there are no plans for Europe in the near future.  Sorry guys.

They're playing Boston in August if you want to make a trip over.
