Goldie had a real 60's neck didn't it? I thought I heard the story that he had the neck and had an idea of what he wanted talked to Fender CS and they put it on a body for him. Played it for a while and talked to them about doing a Signature model and they said no. Then a few months later came out with these. Does that sound about right?

Re: For those that couldn't afford the real goldie
The body was from a Fender Custom Shop gold sparkle 57 Strat. Joe didn't like the maple neck so he used a original 64 neck along with the electronics. All of these parts came from his dads guitar shop. Pickups were later rewound by Lindy Fralin.
Fender has offered gold sparkle as a custom color since the early 60's. If you look in the book, The Galaxy of Strats you will find a 64 gold sparkle Strat in there.
Re: For those that couldn't afford the real goldie
The D1ck Dale Strat has the same finish as well, I don't see the problem. Fender has offered that particular finish since the 60's.
Much ado about nothing. Although Joe should have a CS Strat,( Fender did drop the ball on that one). I prefer the tone he got from his Strat over his Gibson tone(still a good tone though).

I will be making a gold sparkle PartsOCaster... Will have around $350 into it. No big deal.
