Welcome! Yeah, my first Joe live was a couple nights ago - indeed he's amazing. Tell us more about how you found Joe and what brought you to the concert - we love stories!
Show # 9 and while it is hard to compare over the yrs with different venues, Joe maturing, etc. this could be in the top 2 for me. Many bonavirgins were met while walking from the parking garage. I told them all what we know - you will never be the same!
Beautiful venue ( former Mechanics Hall I think) we were ctr orch row m - very good sound, stage had a cool inviting background. The new
1/2 my review did not post...got to go work..details at 6 pm
frustrating as I have had this happen before...
My first time as well. Simply amazing. By the way, Hanover Theater is not the former Mechanics Hall. Mechanics Hall is located about a half mile down the street. The Hanover was built in 1904, and was purchased in the 70's by Showcase Cinemas who converted it into multiple movie theaters and basically destroyed the original theater. A local group renovated the theater back to it's original form about three years ago. It's a great place to see a show, but don't sit in the upper level if you can help it. There is much more legroom in the Orchestra section.
WOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!
I have seen every big name guitarist from a-z. This cat hands down, is the BEST i have ever seen. Went last night to see Joe in Worcester, and it was jaw dropping! Im 41 years old and thought this was kind of a lost art with all the new stuff and new artists out there, but Joe brings back memories and up to date riffs to the table that are hair raising. Hendrix, vaughn, king, malmsteeen, mozart, page ect...all wrapped up in one. I can go on and on about how i feel for the first time in a long time that i did not get ripped off!!!! This guy should be much bigger than he is in the States so you better go see him before he opens the eyes of the rest! Thanks Joe!!!!
Show # 12 or 13 for me and I would have to say the best yet. Although each one is better than the previous, this definitley had a new flavor. have read other posts about a rejuvenated band, a differnt chemistry, and I see that. The addition of Tal seems to have broken them out of the routine. Not that Bogie held them back, but after working together for so many years, you get complacent. Tal seems to have made the band realize that they can have fun, relax, and enjoy themselves. There was a glitch last night in Slow Train in the beginning and they just laughed it off. Each member is coming out to the front and shining in their own way, and it is great to see. Carmine was bouncing all over the place last night, Rick was smiling and trading looks with Carmine, acknowledging some inside joke. Tal was having a blast. What a f****ing amazing drummer. Fills and runs that you never expected, tons of energy, and adds great little tweaks to some of the older songs. Shiver up the spine kind o stuff.
Joe looked like he was having an extraordinary time. He was happy, smiling, laid back, and soaking it all in. And man did he play and play and play! I had someone with me that last saw Joe at the Bull Run in Shirley, maybe in 2007, and he couldn't beleive how much better he has gotten.
I was pumped after this show, and a little hoarse, and can't wait for BCC in June and Joe again in November at the Wang.
Outstanding!!!
So last night was my first time ever seeing Joe in concert, unbelievable!!!! What a show, I have never experience anything like it. Here are some things that stood out for me. First the meet and greet. I was so nervous to meet Joe, what do I say, should I try to shake his hand, will he sign one of his guitar picks for me? Well when it was our turn for my wife and myself to meet Joe he was the one to extend his hand out to us. Then he started up the conversation and I felt like I was talking to an old friend. Every word just fell out naturally and it was because Joe made us feel so comfortable. We both had our picture taken with him, had him sign my Dust Bowl CD and when I asked him to sign one of his guitar picks he even asked me if it came out all right. It came out perfect. At this point I'm flying high!!! Now to the show. I have never seen a transformation from just a regular guy to a GUITAR GOD as I did last night. Joe has a stage presence I have never witness before. I've seen my share of guitar players including the Big 3 Clapton, Beck and Page [ never saw Hendrix] but with Joe I was mesmerize. My wife asked why I was so quiet, I just couldn't believe this was the same guy I met hours ago. [ then I snapped out of it and went nuts] I knew he converted my wife over when she left and came back quickly with a Joe t shirt for herself. I came away with a t shirt, picks, hat and bobble head. The shrine will be built. Every song held something special for me. Hearing Slow Train live was great because it's my favorite song on Dust Bowl. Finally seeing live Just Got Paid [big Zeppelin fan] WOW !! But it was Bird On A Wire that took me to another place, never felt music that was so beautiful. [Speaking of beautiful Ron that is one gorgeous guitar] Everybody I talked to after the show was so happy, for one sweet moment we forgot about this crazy world. Thank you Joe and the band and J&R Adventures for a wonderful experience!!!! Also thank you to the Joe Bonamassa Forum for turning me on to Joe and his music.

It's posts like this that makes most of us old folks here so very happy! Bonabaptisms are seminal moments in music! Nice one, Bob!
To the newbies, pebrady, mukroc, & Niners8, welcome to the club.

Catch you at some other show in the future

Went with two other couples to our first Joe Bonamassa concert at the Hanover. What a night. He played for close to 2 1/2 hours. High energy, great songs, guitar virtuoso, top notch showmanship. It was a real pleasure to see someone who so clearly enjoys what he's doing and doesn't "big league" the audience with a "You're lucky I'm playing for you" attitude.
I wish the concert had never ended.
All of us listen to a lot of music and we're all a lttle confused as to how Mr Bonamassa managed to stay under our collective radar for so long.
Anyway, it's three days later and I'm still trying to process what I experienced at the concert, it was overhwhelming. Talents like this just don't come along very often and certainly not in one musician: masterful guitarmanship. great vocals and wonderful songwriting.
We'll be regulars to all the Boston based shows from here on out.
What a show! My 2nd time seeing him live. Was blown away once again. Really digging the addition of Tal. He's got an added energy/character, "Slow Train" and "Young Man Blues" were phenomenal. Definitely the best show I've ever been to hands down. I only wish he had played more than 3 off the new album though. Was hoping to hear the solo on "No Love in The Street" and was anticipating "Black Lung Heartache", but who can complain after a Bonamassa show right!?

ok, i'm ashamed to say i never even heard of joe, and i love blues, my friend called at 4pm, and said he might have a ticket to a really good blues show, and he'd get back to me, he did and had 2 seats 11 row center. i had an empty seat next to me, and a bunch of bummed out friends after i told them that i saw one of the greatest shows ever. i knew none of joes songs, yet i was dancing in my seat the whole time. some things that stand out, well really everything was awesome, but i loved the version of "young mans blues", "sloe gin" was outstanding ! and "feelin good" i could use that as my alarm clock everyday ! and the"ballad of john henry" not to mention the acoustic jam, WOW i am still in AWE ! YOU WILL SEE ME AT ANY SHOW NEAR ME, and maybe some not so near, and JOE BONAMASSA THANKS AGAIN FOR THE BEST NIGHT IN A LONG TIME ! ps. when you come back in november to boston play another show in worcester so i can go to both !
Great great great reviews, plenty of excitement given back to the forum!!! Thanks a billion!!! Ron, your piece belongs in here too, so write something again or cut and paste it (or I will!)....Someone seems to be hiding in some sort of sandy "underground" place, like a meerkat or something......
Pictures can wait, but not for long!
Rock ON & Keep the Faith,
Rocket
