that is a loaded question that always begs, which list? Hundreds of lists to choose from, are we talking active at present, all-time including the deaduns, blues/rock, rock/blues? Everybody's got their list and the more I look at them the dizzier I get. Most don't even make sense.
I have Joe in my top 5 active, but not in my top 10 all-time(YET).

Matt Schofield - Very bluesy with a touch of jazz, a very under rated technical player. Unlike most technical players, he also puts a lot of feeling into his playing.

Philip Sayce - Very heavily influenced by SRV and Hendrix, but also very unique in his playing. Can be a bit too loud at gigs but certainly one to watch!

Simon McBride - A very fast player, always hitting the right notes IMO, and I can't wait to see him live next month! Another one to watch!

Greg Koch for sure..... but Chirs Cain to me is the most under rated guitarist in the blues scene.... he plays blues, jazz and even some rock stuff. One of my favorite players for sure.... and a very nice guy.

Love the list.  Thanks for including Frankie in there.  He is definitely one of my favorites of all time.  I like his acoustic/electrical blend he arranges.  His "Got to Get Your Groove On" is my no. 1 song right now.  He's a super nice guy and loves to play.  He is so giving with his fans and I hope one day you have the chance to meet and talk with him smile

Ray Hatfield, one of the two axemen in Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash. Some of his playing just blows me away.

And Snowy White is another.

there is a guitar player for a Detroit Area blues band called the Broken Arrow Blues Band............His name is Alen Grebovic.....I have seen him and this band many times here in Michigan............I get the chills/goose bumps EVERY time i hear him play..........ABSOLUTELY fantastic live!!!!

I have always loved the North Mississippi Allstars, but until last night, I had no clue just how jaw-droppingly brilliant Luther Dickinson is. Good lord, I was standing right in front of him about 2 feet away from him last night, and I got a freakin' lesson. After last night, he is instantly in my top 3 guitarists going today. JAW DROPPING!  yikes Maybe he's not underrated, as NMA have a great following, but I was thoroughly blown away.

Top- 10 toward the middle....With Page, Hendrix, etc ...probably around 6th or 7th...of course..I am assuming he continues at this pace for a few more years.....I have a feeling his body of work will be unmatched if he continues with his prolific output...10 discs in 10 years+ touring and having a 2nd band and a side project or two.....I mean...simply amazing work ethic!!!!

His work on the black crowes before the frost until the freeze is really good as well.  He's also done a few really good sit ins with the mule
