Topic: Hello from Western PA
Well, I'd like to start off this relationship by stating… (i.e. making the excuse)… that "I do live under a Rock." Now that I have that off my chest…
Hello, my name is Troy and I’m a Bonaholic.
I hail from western PA, nestled in deep rolling hills and coke ovens. I’ve been a long time fanatic of Guy, SRV, Gilmore, and others. But I’m not sure if they still exist since Bonamassical music entered my ears and was digested by my brain.
I was fortunate (or un-fortunate) enough to be scanning the channels one evening last August when I stopped on Palladia (that would be the unfortunate part of this) and saw a young man dressed in a suit and shades, picking on a Gibson. “What the hell is this?” My feet started tapping uncontrollably and before I knew it, my hands had picked up my six-string Air Gee-tar and I was playing right along with the TV. That’s when everything changed…
I’ve never been on the “cutting edge” of music (though I was close in my college years), but I do feel ashamed that I have only just discovered Joe Bonamassa. I definitely believe I’ve been under a rock for many years. I missed a 2007 show he did at the Palace Theater in Greensburg, PA, and even though I didn’t know who he was at that time, I still feel like I forgot to pick up my Grandmother at the train station.
Anyway, enough of the bs. I’ve lurked for awhile; here, youtube, and digging up news articles, and I want to say I’m proud to be a part of this community. I love the fact everything associated with Bonamassa seems to snub corporate music and show others it can be done through hard work.
Congratulations to those who work their tails off for Joe!
Thank you, Mr. Bonamassa, for giving me a wonderful passion.
P.S.
A big thanks to whoever was responsible for getting Joe Bonamassa LIVE at RAH on Palladia!
