Wisconsin played GREAT Roy. This is truly March Madness. I don't know if I can stand many more like these dang nail biters. The outcomes have thrown the pundits predictions out the window so far.  lol My bracket picks? Hah! I'll just say the winners trip isn't in the future.

Connecticut over Arizona

Have to see if Syracuse can even beat Marquette before I predict outcome of the possumbliteries of Orange vs. Wilycats  lol
(Don't like getting scratched by Eagle talons or friends' rough playing for the blood  of it all 'Cats) Caveat: Marquette squeezes the Orange I pick Kentucky over them (it's the law!).

Re: NCAA Basketball

Hey Rick,
I'm done with being tantalized by animals, as in Cats and Owls...I am honestly happy to be put out of my misery.  big_smile

What a battle yesterday, especially since I thought your guys won it at least twice before the first overtime, let alone 2 overtimes!!  You do know my hubby is a classic armchair coach and very emotional fan.  Not to sound like a sore loser, but there were 2 things he didn't like , I think both in the 2nd overtime. There was a walk not called on the Aztecs, as he screamed it, Temple sideline was doing the hand motion for walking and there was something else, a fowl maybe.  And one of the Temple players blew it at the end. I was checking SI brackets, they had the Aztecs playing Penn State instead of Temple and had you going to the Sweet 16 meeting up with UConn. Kemba's wrist is hurt, I think he's getting a little beat up...it should be an exciting game.

Its a funny thing with colleges and alumni...colleges try to fundraise when their teams are playing well.  We both got mail Friday saying "Get Your Owl On", but it was for Alumni Weekend, no fundraising. If you remember Hall and Oates, Daryl Hall went to Temple and will be performing alumni weekend. Hall & Oates meet at Temple while they both were students there.

Did anyone see the end of Pittsburgh vs. Butler?  Its probably my Big East favortism, BUT what a way for Pitt to lose!!  Coach husband would have got them the win.  When Pitt lined up for 2 fowl shots with less than 2 seconds, he would have removed the Pitt players from lining up for the fowl, so what happened didn't happen, which cost them the game.  Strange ending with 2 mistakes on both teams.  2 years ago, 'Nova beat Pitt in the last second of the game to go to the final four, this year SI had Pitt going to the Final Four losing to Kansas.

With that said, I just totally admire the Butler coach since last years run and his player Howard was a shining star again.  Just a class act to say what he said at the end.  I wish St. John's Coach Lavin said something of value when he beat Rutgers, even though it wasn't his fault or anything.  Just saying...

Rocket, Good Luck to your Orangemen!! smile

Wow, what a weekend of Madness! Upsets, gaffes, last minute heroics! The survivors March On, the rest slink home and the best is yet to come. Those Buckeyes are the only ones that seemed to cruise along. The right hand side of my bracket picks is a smoldering pile of rubble, I guess half still alive is OK??
Coach Fisher stated in his morning interview that he thought the Aztecs matched up well vs UConn. Normally circumspect, a shocking statement from him. Thursday may find me in the stands in Anaheim.  big_smile Our boys haven't shot well but they can D up with the best of them. I've not seen a half court defense any better.

Re: NCAA Basketball

same here Rick, my right side looks like a mine field. VCU killed me, but so did ND and Pitt. On the other side, I managed to bring home Arizona and Marquette which was a good thing. Not out of it yet, floating around in the 68 percentile. yep, that will be a good matchup on Thursday, maybe they will shoot better. I'm darn tired of the Big East, come to think of it they didn't have a very good weekend. Steve will have them ready to pounce, good luck.

Re: NCAA Basketball

Both are teams to be reckoned with!  The Badgers, frankly, could take it all, and I wouldn't rule the Golden Eagles out the way they played with heart and determination against Syracuse.  UConn and San Diego State should be interesting...I see a 2 and a 7 in the final score scheme????  Someone wins by 27 or is it wins with 2.7 seconds to go????  neutral

UConn over SDSU

BYU over Florida

Wisconsin over Butler

Arizona over Duke (are you kidding?)

VCU yes, continues ('til the baskeball turns into a pumpkin) over Florida State!

Richmond over Kansas (are you kidding me?) Why NOT two Cinderellas?

North Carolina over Marquette

Rocket - At first I was gonna ask you to cut back on the vino, but then I remembered it's Dodge City for this year's tournament.  I do wonder how you got the Aztecs losing to UConn, but have BYU beating Florida.  Also it'll take a miracle for the Cats to beat tO$U.  If I'm back home this weekend I plan on watching UK play with my second Dad and huge Wildcat fan.  Kentucky has a nice little team that are fun to watch.

I'll drag up the tattered remnants of my better Liz Bracket choices, and fill in the gaps with the survivors for the 16. Bold are my originals that remain.

AZTECS V UConn, AZTECS smile
KU v Richmond, KU
Fla. St. v VCU, VCU
Butler v Wisconsin, Wisconsin

I've got SDSU Vs KU in the final.  tongue

Re: NCAA Basketball

I'm not surprised at the upsets last night.  They will continue.  For the first time since Tubby left I'm gonna pretend Coach Cal isn't there and just pull for this young Kentucky team.  With Kanter they would've been the favorite tonight, but the three stud freshmen and the center Cal tried to get rid of will give the Buckeyes all they want.
After another abysmal season the fireworks continue for my Indiana Hoosiers.  Rumor has it their best player, Christian Watford, is considering transferfering.  I hope he stays.  We have plenty others that can play Division II.  The future continues to be very bright after we added another top fifty recruit for 2012.  That class is now number one nationally and we may add yet another five-star making it the best in school history.  Our 2014 class is shaping up to a top five as well and the cool thing is all these kids are from Indiana.

Re: NCAA Basketball

I'll have to add after watching replays and listening to Coach Fisher this morning that the two technicals were terrible calls that probably changed the game, certainly stopped the momentum the Aztecs had going on the second. The Italian soccer flop to the floor by Walker was ridiculous, and he was heard in the tunnel after the game bragging about how he pulled it off. The tech on Kawhi for jawing with the other players at 2 minutes into the game was ridiculous as well, the first in his career for unsportsmanlike conduct. One wonders.... TV influence was scotched big time though when mighty Duke was snuffed by the Zonies.  lol

Sorry Rick, I cannot agree at all on your or coach's points, "who" heard what in what tunnel  roll .  lt comes down to lost=lost.  Excuses or bad calls, heck the entire Big East would be in the tournament if either meant anything in the end.  Also, technicals are not assessed on realism, it comes down to a judgement on sportsmanship also. Bad sportmanship....makes one deserve.  A GREAT San Diego State University season, should be no excuse mongering or whining, locals and local media especially have SUCH a hard tome with expectations and disappointments, just like every other sports city in United Spates of America!  tongue
