Topic: The Pabst Theater Milwaukee, Wisconsin March, 12, 2011...

Again, I took a number of photos at this show and probably the best way to view them is to click on the "Slideshow" button shown near the upper right of the page. I should mention we had a few notables that attended dinner with us prior to the show. The dinner guests were: Rev. Paul and wife Cathy, Lee and Renee, Nic, Sniff, Earl, the Latz family Carl, Doris and Tallan, along with my bride of almost 27 years Dawn, son Ben and sister Lynn. We ate at the Rock Bottom Brewery which is about 2 blocks from the Pabst Theater. I must say, very good food and beer! smile

Nice Roy. Good shots of the gathering beforehand too. That is a pretty cool theater by the looks of it. Thanks,
Rick

Jeeze Roy! No wonder there was an hour and fifteen minute wait and we couldn't get in!
You guys had the entire restaurant occupied! We did have MORE drinks there after the show.

I must apologize Bil for not inviting you and the guys to our gathering. roll I knew you were hanging out with them and it's not that often that guys like us get a "Guys Night Out", so I didn't want to cramp your style. However, we need to get together again at a show soon! Hey, when is Grace Potter and the Nocturnals going to be in our area again? wink

Roy, what camera were you using ?  Want to get a new one but doing some research first.  Didn't have a great camera for my show in KC so didn't get very good pics.

Roy,
No problem on the invite, we were out early having a few (ok, more than a few) libations. When we decided to have dinner, the first place we went was Rock Bottom. I thought it was ironic that, out of all the restaurants in the area, we picked the same one.
BTW, Gracie is at HOB's Chicago on a friday night...pretty sure its June 4th. See you there?

I thought that might be the case Bill. I wondered why when I saw you in the men's room, you were peeing in the sink! wink  lol

Gracie on Friday, June 4th? Oh my goodness, my birthday is June 3rd so maybe she'd give me a big hug and kiss? What do ya think? roll Yeah, I know, I'm hopeless! But it's a definite possibility I might show up there. You, Jamie and I front and center again? smile

Hi lle!

I was using a Canon Rebel XSI Digital Camera. I'm still new to it and learning as I go along, but so far I'm very happy. It came with an EFS 18-55mm lens which is pretty standard and I added an EFS 55-250 mm lens, both Canon models. Now, for shooting in low light conditions I hate to use a flash, so I did buy a Canon EF 50mm lens specifically for taking pictures at shows which I do a lot of. I set my ISO level as high as I can get, which on this camera is 1600. Together with the 50 mm lens, which is quite fast, I'm able to take most pictures without any flash at all. The draw back on the 50 mm is there is no zoom capability, what you see through the lens is what you get. Also, if the subject gets too close, it gets hard to fit them in the picture. Anytime when you're trying to take a picture of a performer in low light conditions, movement of said performer becomes a huge factor. Joe really isn't too bad as sometimes he'll stand still for just a moment, but you have to be ready to take his picture. I've found it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the subject that you're trying to shoot, so you might know when a break in the song is coming to capture the best pictures. wink Other than that, it's all a crap shoot and I try to take many pictures hoping that a few good ones turn out. smile
