Topic: How does Joe 'use' his Tube Screamer and other drive pedals?

Hello folks,

Would anyone know if Joe uses his TS as a gain boost for just solos or as well as a basic rhythm sound or
does he leave that to the amps and other drives (fuzzface) etc? I know he uses his volume pots to clean up the sound
but does he roll the volume off to get to his rhythm sound and vice versa to get his lead sound.??wow just confused myself!

Just curious like. Thanks to JB, have now revamped my old Marshall and LP and am very happy to say so.
God bless ya.

the 3 times that i have seen joe he used the ts and his other drive pedals only as a lead boost. the amps are basically at full saturation and he works the volume knob for his rhythm tones. hope that helps.

He mentions in some of the rig rundown videos, he does in the newest one; that he gets all of his ovderdrive from his amps.  Obviously the fuzz is exclusively for lead expression due to it's noise, but sometimes you can see him step on a pedal when he goes into a lead.  I would guess that the TS808 is more for the tonal/character change when it is engaged.  The sound man can always bump up his volume too if need be.  -Seth
