Topic: Best potentiometer for volume swell/violin effect
As the topic suggests, I'm wondering what the proper choices in potentiometers are in order to get that smooth volume swell/violin effect like Joe does.

Just use some cts pots and good capacitors, try a few types (bumble bee are supposedly the best) and values till you find what you like.
whatever PRS use. The ones in my DGT are the smoothest pots i've came across.
EVH has just come out with a new Pot that is low drag and spins freely. They are CTS qualty as well and are in the new Wolfgang guitars. Has a really high taper so that should make them smooth as silk to swell up. Funny though I always prefered using pots that have shafts that are very hard to turn because I always thought they were better quality, not the case but more then likely but its worked for me for years so I doubt I switch now. The only other advice I got is a general rule of thumb 250k pots for single coil fender products, and 500k pots for most humbucker style guitars. 1meg is fun but the higher up you go the less control you have with the volume. I know people that like 250k with their humbuckers because they get more controland their pickups clean up better with them, if your using a high powered pickup then forget this idea. good luck, because the general rule of thumb is their are no rules and you should let your ears do the judging.
