Topic: Joe's new acoustic
Anyone know the make/model of Joe's new acoustic guitar? I know he used to use the Yamaha LJX36C but he seems to have gotten a new one in the last few months
Thanks

Any specific model of it? There are so many variations of the Yairi
EDIT: Looks like the Bob Weir model to me
thanks
I have to ask a question that is probably going to show off my ignorance...
Why is it that with all the amazing acoustic guitars out there Joe plays Yamaha or alvarez. Neither are known for making top of the line guitars... and that has always shocked me considering he plays thru the best amps on the market and some of the best guitars on the market. I would think that he would play a Martin or Gibson...Taylor, Breedlove, Santa Cruz... There are so many to choose from.
Its not just joe... Takamine is very popular with famous players too... I've never understood why.

Yeah I know what you mean...maybe its to put their own uniqueness to it or something instead of copying what the rest of players use. However...there's no denying that WHATEVER guitar Joe uses, it sounds amazing!

The Yamaha he plays is a $3,500 acoustic so i would say it's pretty top of the line as far as Yamaha acoustics go, but I, too, would think he would play a Gibson or Taylor or Martin.

Well he played a Martin at the Guitar Center sessions a few weeks back
I used to have a Taylor and HATED it. The sound was dull and extremely boring, so I switched to Breedlove (which is awesome). Well, when I took my breedlove to have Joe sign it, I told him about my Taylor and how awful I thought it was, and he responded with (along the lines of) "Well yeah, Taylors are dreadful". Thats my Joe acoustic story.
Logan
Egads. I have a Taylor, and it's sparkly and clear. But I do associate them as "church guitars."
Acoustics seem to really be individual to themselves. Two of the same Martin sound completely different, same with Gibsons and most other quality brands... they're pretty individual.
WOW! I never would have thought that guitar cost that much or even the fact that Yamaha made guitars that cost that much. To think he stuffs beach towels down them!

Yeah, I never would have thought it cost so much either, until I looked it up. I'm sure this one is overpriced and if someone was really shopping around, I suspect they could find a better deal, but it's still way out of this poor boys comfort zone

Theres a model called the FJX730SC or something that looks very similar to the LJX36C (Joe's) and it costs £400 ... sounds damn good too!
Funny, I thought he was playing a Taylor at RAH. The tailpiece and headstock shape appeared to be a Taylor, but the pick guard shape was different than a Taylor. I couldn't see the brand on the headstock. Anyone know for sure?

It's definitely a Yamaha LJX26C
The Yamaha's Joe played were about 6 to $700 bucks. The way Joe plays an acoustic is not how most people play them. He cares about the electronics on them from what I understand because he, like someone already said, stuffs a towel in them and covers the sound hole. He has the volume up in the monitors so he just tries to keep them from feeding back. He has a percussive style and plays the guitars very hard. He tends to go through them on the road he appreciates the sound of a Martin in the studio but wouldn't dare take a studio quality Martin on the road.

That was the RAH not going to bring the $600 Yamaha out for that. The ones he toured with were the cheaper model.
