Topic: Old Growth Honduran Mahogany

Anyone know where I can find some? I'm sure other guitar builders are hoarding it, but I wanna do another guitar build.

Re: Old Growth Honduran Mahogany

Logan, there is a place here in San Diego that specializes in hardwood lumber, especially for fine woodworking and boatbuilding. http://frosthardwood.com/
I've used them for years for mahogany and teak. I don't know about old growth but I'm sure they do. Good luck.

Re: Old Growth Honduran Mahogany

If you don't mind multi piece bodies look for an old piano.  Most were made from Maghogany, and are old growth because.... they are old.  You can usually pick up a 60 or 70 year old upright for less than $100., and often times for free.  Tou can get a lot of different hard woods from old pianos that, if you don't take them, are on their way to a landfill.

Great idea.  I never thought of that.  Also, check out http://www.globalwoodsource.com/.  I've been by the place.  Lots of fantastic woods - not sure about the age though.
